I've been an arachnophobe since I was a little kid. At first watching your videos of the spiders would give me heebeegeebees and goosebumps. But over time watching episode after episode and hearing the hopeful tone of your voice along with your appreciation of spiders, I have changed. The neurons in my brain now associate spiders with good feelings instead of the fear that I had prior to finding your channel. Now when I see spiders when I'm out, I don't scream or freak out. Instead, I feel calm and appreciative of the work that spiders perform to help our ecosystem. Thanks AC.

I think the egg was indeed dead. I watch a lot of snake related videos and every time a full grown snake emerges from an egg, the remaining egg seems fully empty. This big clump of matter seems like a fetus or yolk of a non-developed egg. Also snakes typically cut open their egg in slashes, so that would not match this big gaping hole. My theory is that the ants have been slowly invading the egg and feeding from its juices.
@SassyGirl8220069 сағат бұрын
Previously there were slashes in the egg, before the gaping whole. My thoughts are that the snake may have gotten to the pipping stage but for whatever reason never emerged. And the ants have been having a field day with the remains.

@@filipinosonicfan The frogs could probably handle one or two but long term it would eventually make them sick. Also depends on if the frog learns. In regards to cleaning the glass, there are magnetic cleaning pads that atrract to each other from each side of the glass. They are often used for cleaning aquariums, but perhaps you could custom make something a bit bigger with a strong enough magnet for your glass. they often come off if you move the one you're holding too much, so perhaps it would not be a solution in your circumstances

I think you should still try to create more connections between Pandora and Orchardia, because it feels more like 2 completely separate vivarium, rather than a coherent and communicating ecosystem at the moment.
@Kris_Lighthawk11 сағат бұрын
I agree, maybe something like thick dead wooden branch. It would be something that none of the creatures could easily destroy and would resemble the tree trunks that normally connect a canopy with the forest floor. Bamboo (either dead or alive) would also be an option
@bubblesofthecoast639310 сағат бұрын
I’m pretty sure that’s the eventual plan. However he mentioned last video that he wants to keep the two somewhat separated, until Orchadia is able to combat the invasive fire ants on its own through a robust and biodiverse ecosystem. I definitely don't think anything hatched from that egg. The hole is suspicious, yes, but the fact there's a chunk of something inside tells me it was either infertile, or stopped developing at some point. The ants and other small soil creatures likely got the yolk before it could turn foul - hatched reptile eggs, insofar as I'm aware, tend to be FULLY empty after hatching. There's never anything 'left behind' that can take on the kind appearance AND size as whatever that whiteish chunk is. Probably nothing to worry about.

That new banyan tree certainly brought a whole new vibe! And who knows how many more insects there might be ... after all, a lot of animals are excellent hiders, and we won't see them for days, weeks, or even months. And that brings me to Snip: we never saw her until she was ready to come out into the light ... I am not to worried about her, she is an epic hider and might have been shook by all the hubub above in Orchadia, so she is in hiding again. She always was more carefull than Snap after all, and with reason as her scars tell us part of her story. The baby gekko is super cute and a wonderfull player in Orchadia. Kermit looking at the Dolichoderus satelite nest is giving me fun vibes: "What is that? Can I eat it? There are many. Many means a full belly, but maybe also many stings ... Let's wait and see." LoL All the new spiders are super fun! And as I am an arachnaphobe on the way to beat that fear, I am happy to see them, as I do love their shape and colors. (don't tell me it doesn't make any sense, I know ... fear hardly ever is logical after all.😉 ) The egg ... a many layerd mystery, wrapped in a conundrum, with a sauce of fright and wonder. What I found online, and I am a super unexperienced woman about this, so it is all internet search for me, is that there would not be something inside the egg after it hatched. A baby snake would not leave anything behind, it needs all the nutrients it can get before hatching. Also, the ants would/might have had enough time, and troops, to eat fast enough to not have any big rot actually happen to be noticed. That said: better carefull and safe than ever once sorry! Oh, how this series still keeps my mind racing with questions, more questions, more thinking, more puzzling: I love it! Thank you AntsCanada! 🐜🍁💚

Obviously the smaller Caimans need to eat every few weeks to survive…but larger crocodiles & alligators can go years without eating. They truly are the last dinosaurs & can lay dormant if need be to avoid an apocalyptic situation.

These videos are perfect as they are giving updates on all the animals but if I hear about his dead egg again… 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

The hole in the egg was facing down. Decaying fluids drain to the bottom and make that the most nutrient rich area. A number of insects would be digging to get to that part of the egg and slowly forced it upwards.

In future episodes, if you're unsure of an egg is dead, probably best not to add it to the ecosystem. If you do, probably best to decide firsthand if it's dead or not (even if it isn't,) and then gouge the egg when you place it inside instead of leaving it completely up to the forces of nature. I know that kind of goes against the vibe of a natural ecosystem project, or maybe it doesn't. But if you've decided the egg is dead, might as well make for certain that it is. Sounds harsh, but this egg for you and the ecosystem was just simply intended food; in my eyes that's no different than a gutted roach. I also don't think Snip is gone or anything, just hiding.

For Christmas you should give a cake or something to one of your ant colonies

I think it’s more likely that the Caiman smelled the decaying egg underneath the ground and dug it up to eat any remaining nutrients from it because I remember you showing the Caiman sleeping/resting in that undergrowth behind the hole if I remember correctly from a previous video.

The year is 2046 society has crumbled and we still haven't been told what was in the egg.
