When I was right out of college my roommate rescued a stray kitten and couldn't afford to spay it right away, but one heat and I chipped in to find a rescue that did it cheap for students (we weren't even students anymore but they didn't ask questions - they just cared about cats!) It was excruciating for us and her, and she did NOT want to be touched by humans when she was in heat, so I'm not sure she's not making it worse, but the way they have dragged this on makes me think they actually enjoy making her suffer, and obviously us. But I've also been watching Chantal for more than a minute so it tracks. As one of those poor childless cat ladies, this is not how you treat a cat like a child, unless you're a terrible parent.

Cats can get spayed at any age if they’re healthy. I adopted 2 kittens from a shelter that were newly spayed and they were only 7 weeks old. She just thinks we are idiots and runs her mouth in circles. 🙄

I work in animal protection and operate an animal rescue. The only time I've seen a vet or owner use the depo shot more then once is when breeders want to have kittens at a specific time. There are birth control vaccinations that last 2+ years for cats and they are typically only needed for cats who have health issues that would make surgery dangerous. There is absolutely no reason for Julia to be in heat again so soon after having the shot, I would bet money she never had it this last time. Note how she says "You cant have a man from outside", implying that an inside cat is acceptable? Watch Julia "accidentally" get out and wind up pregnant. Cats can be spayed at the time of their second vaccinations, they give them to them post surgery as long as it goes well. Side note: petting your cat when they are in heat exasperates their....feelings....because the touch triggers the feelings. There are pheromone diffusers and treats that calm her down. Laser pointers and toys for distraction.

A vet would be able to estimate Julia's age, so her saying "we didn't know how old she was when we got her". If you took her to the vet LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO AS A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER, the vet would be able to tell you how old the cat is.

When I got my youngest spayed she went into a phantom pregnancy at the same time. I stayed up with her for four nights comforting her because she was so uncomfortable. I took her to the vet day two because I knew this was not normal after spaying four dogs. The vet said she would never go through this again because she was spayed. That's why you spay your pets FB. They are a higher risk of cancer, and they can be very uncomfortable. It's not rocket science

A kittens first shots are at 9 weeks and then 12 weeks old. They can be spayed at 5 months. Female cats can go into heat as early as 4 months! It's truly crazy. Chantal doesn't even have to take Julia to the vet and she doesn't take Julia to the vet, Poopy does. They have a car, they have money. There is no reason for this absolute bull💩. I'm surprised ppl r wondering why Chantal won't vaccinate or neuter her cat. It's obvious. It's not about the money. It's about the care. Taking care of an animal fresh outta surgery is time consuming. U have to have patience and compassion. I've took care of several animals after neutering. They whine. Want lots of attention. U have to administer medicine. They might keep u up at nite. Takes about 5 days for them to start playing and being themselves. But they usually wear the cone for 8 days. That's why she doesn't wanna do it. It's a lot of work. She's not used to doing any, so, u can imagine she's putting it off as long as possible. Until she says she won't do it at all. 'Not everyone neuters their pets guys' she won't do it

Yeah, this is probably a big part of it! My first cat was a really easy spay - she didn't need a cone because she didn't care about the stitches. The second one had to wear a onesie for 10 days (I did that instead of a cone because I figured it would be more comfortable). She was very sad about it, but the time passed quickly enough and she got over it.

also i feel like she's using the "i dont want anything to happen to her during surgery" as another excuse to avoid getting her spayed. if you literally SPOKE TO A VET you'd be able to ease these fears, the longer you wait the more risk you'll put her in! They do blood tests to make sure your pet will be okay under anaesthesia and while female spaying is more invasive than boys being neutered, it's come a long way in 10+ years and it's much more simple than it used to be via keyhole surgery!

1:10:43 the conversation around breeding Julia just makes me so tired. So very tired. There is absolutely no reason to breed Julia when you live in a country with an over population of cats to adopt. It’s harmful to breed Julia, when you only want one kitten, you have no clue how many will end up in the litter, and to be 40 and toy with the idea because you want another cat is ludicrous. You can’t even get your ish together to keep Julia on track for vaccinations, she gonna need regular checkups through her pregnancy, and then you’ll have a litter of new borns who will also need examinations. And the kitten you choose to keep, (God knows what you’ll do with the unwanted ones with strays roaming the streets) will need all the rounds of vaccinations and neutering you neglected to give Julia. The only reason there is to breed Julia is the Sick fantasy of you getting to experience pregnancy vicariously through her. You Had a chance Chantal, you had a chance to fight and do everything you could to protect your sexual health and you chose not to. And while there is a chance you could have fought and needed the hysterectomy anyway, you will never know if you could have saved your reproductive system because you chose not to fight. Julia should not have to carry kittens, be neglected through her pregnancy, have her baby’s neglected and scattered to the wind so you can feel like a mother.

I don't believe that's the case. She just doesn't appreciate people pressuring her to get the cat spayed and prefers to do it on her own schedule. It seems she enjoys showing others that she's not in a hurry and doesn't care what they think. She hasn't been too upset about the hysterectomy because she's long expressed her dislike for kids and her desire not to have any.
