This song was a club tsunami in 1990. It brought the world of Ballroom culture and vogueing to the masses. Probably my favorite Madonna song- and still an absolute BANGER!!

This may be her most iconic song. The summer of 1990 this song skyrocketed along with the Blond Ambition tour. Really to this day I’m amazed at the intricate synchronization with all of the dancers after about 90 minutes of other numbers.

I can’t believe you don’t know this song! 😆 I mentioned in my last comment this is her biggest and most well known hit. It’s fun watching you attempt choreography. Vogue comes out of ballroom culture from 1980s New York City. Gay blacks and Latinos would walk a runway doing this Vogue style dance. Striking a pose to emulate the rich white society they were not a part of. If you’ve ever watched RuPaul’s Dragrace, they refer to this constantly. There is also a doc called Paris Is Burning, and also a hit series called Pose. Both explain the history of Vogueing well. Madonna adopted this style and brought it to the mainstream. Great review Seph. You will love tge next song as well. But the finale, Keep it Together, done in Fosse style, is a masterpiece.

This one and Like A Prayer are Madonna's ultimate songs up to this point of her career. Vogue put an end to 80s pop and defined 90s pop. This song is so iconic, it has more and better eras than Taylor Swift 😄 oh and the culture impact, all the renditions to Vogue in the years to come, even in 2024 it was causing a commotion with all the celebrities she invited on every show of her tour.

This is my favourite tour version of this song (it's called "Vogue" Seph) . I am here for this. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This BLEW UP around the world, shooting to number 1 in multiple countries including the UK, US, Europe, and Australia. It ushered in the 1990's sound, and is one of her top 5 most famous tracks she's identified by the mainstream with, along with Like a Prayer, Like a Virgin, Material Girl, and Into the Groove.

This is Madonna’s biggest hits. The video is very elegant, filmed in black and white. She lip synced to this because of the dance demands but I’m not hating it. When she was younger she was a classically trained dancer. Seph, it’s never too late to learn to dance. There is a 74 year old man here on KZbin that dances. Go for it Seph!

Hello the song is called Vogue and has sold 3 million copies in the USA alone, the dance Madonna discovered it in a gay club, she was so impressed by it that she hired the guys to teach her this dance and then took them on this tour, the dance from gay clubs became a mass phenomenon
@therealdr.ripvhs4 ай бұрын
You might be interested to know that the guy who choreographed this entire concert (with the exception of this song, which was choreographed by two of her dancers) is the same choreographer who did Michael Jackson’s Bad tour, the Smooth Criminal video, and a bunch more of Jackson’s stuff. His name is Vincent Paterson, and there’s some great recent interviews with him on KZbin and some other podcasts for his recent memoir. Great reactions! I get a kick out of you watching Madonna and trying to take it all in 😂
@alektaroton-line69774 ай бұрын
Seth, your reactions are the best! I love them! The Vogue dance (or Voguing) emerged in the late 70s, in New York nightclubs, particularly in the ballrooms of the Latino, black and peripheral LGBTQIA+ community in Harlem. It is a dance inspired by the poses of models from major fashion magazines, especially Vogue magazine. It is a dance with strong body expressiveness and a lot of attitude. Most of the movements are from the torso upwards, with many movements of arms, hands and gestures, expressing charm and glamor in the performance. When it broke out to the general public, in 1990, through Madonna, it was a revolution, due to the unusual movements, unknown, until then, to the general public at the time.

When you started reacting to Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour and I saw that you were mimicking her dance moves, I asked you to be sure to continue this mimicking when you got to "Vogue." You did not disappoint. So goddamn cute, Seph. **major melting** In my mind "Vogue" was the peak of Madonna's career and is my favorite song of hers. This version here is good, but the studio version is even better. To my knowledge, Madonna borrowed the voguing concept from 80s New York City drag ball culture as documented in the amazing 1990 movie PARIS IS BURNING. Probably my favorite documentary, filmmaker Jennie Livingston captures her subject's lives as they unfold, which is my favorite type of doc. An instant classic. Highly recommended. I liked "Vogue" so much that I included it on two of my DJ mix tapes posted on my Mixcloud page - Mix 3 and Mix 8.

“Voguing” is a gender-bending dance style that was created by the Black and Latinx LGBT+ community in Harlem. It is inspired by the poses of fashion models. Voguing evolved during the 1980 “drag balls” that formed the epicenter of the Harlem ballroom movement going back to the 1960s. Drag balls were events reminiscent of beauty pageants. During these get-togethers, the mostly Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ contestants would show off their outfits, poses, and dance moves, competing for titles in various categories. This revolutionary movement continues to empower people of all genders, races and sexual orientations.
