If you're curious, the reason why the grebe pull out their feathers and feed it to their young is because their diet consists of small fish which have small bones. It's theorized that the feathers are used to protect the inner lining of the stomachs so the kids can eat the food without getting hurt. As they get older, they don't need it quite as much

I discovered this video series quite by accident, but it was a happy accident. Our narrator friend is both witty and informative. He also has his own peculiar style which oddly enough makes his presentation both funny and frightening at the same time. He seems to be bursting with a kind of controlled enthusiasm. His rapid-fire narration makes his deadpan expression seem out of place, and therefore, funnier. That bursting, rapid-fire speech suggests that he has so much knowledge and insight that he can't wait to share it. It is both his informative wit and delivery that make me want to hear him.My only criticism is that his rapid speech is often hard to understand; l often miss words l really would like to understand. He is really that engaging and there no one on utube quite like him.

Roseate spoonbill can be found as far north as South Texas actually. Get to see these migrating every so often in the drainage ditches and out on the salt flats.

Where I live there is a wildlife trail in Florida you can go out on in the winter and all the Rosette spoonbills will come and people all over come with cameras to photograph them. They're my Grandma's favorite thing to see and honestly they're kind of cool to look at. I got up quite a bit of photos on my camera. Honestly I like all sorts of birds

Also to Texas. I see them all the time. I love them. The way they use that beak to search for crabs and shrimp is actually fascinating. The spoon part of their bill is extremely sensitive and can detect movement in the water or under the sand. When they grab something, they can tell if it’s a small fish or crab or if it’s just some sea grass or trash. They never have to look at what they’re hunting like herons, egrets, or kingfishers do, yet they can hunt in the same waters as them and hunt just as well.
