Great interview but I would take issue with what Tony said he wasn't training like he should he's older at the end of his career he wasn't making excuses he was being bluntly honest. (We should be happy he was still racing & gave her Herlings a battle) When it comes to how MX2 races are valued less. I don't think that's coming from fans but from other top Riders. They say the same thing in the US they don't think 125/250 Wins or championships are on par with the premier 250/450 class. (But there are plenty of other Riders who would love to win a 250 race let alone 250 championship)

Edit: I'm on my 2nd listen...lol. Funny hearing the whiners about how long it is. Uh, when you're doing chores around the house, put in some ear buds, and listen. It isn't hard.....well, for the few it isn't. For the masses, eh, that's another thing. Oh, and anyone downplaying MXGP2 or 250 titles, well, go out and get one, if it's so easy. I listened to the full interview, and it was fantastic. I've purchased the MXGP package last year and two years prior, and I just couldn't get into the races because I knew so little about the guys racing (other than Herlings and Cairoli). I think more interviews of MXGP riders from VitalMX/Phillips as in depth/content rich as the Herlings one might bring in more listeners from the States. If I really got to "know" the racers like I felt I got from the Herlings interview, I'd subscribe to that MXGP package and be able to relate to the races. Also, I don't understand those who dislike Herlings. The guy's one of the great MXGP racers. I still hope he'll pull the plug on MXGP within the next couple of years and do the entire US Nationals series. Last year, it was great seeing Cairoli at Thunder Valley. Nothing like seeing a legend MX'er, regardless where they're from.

The reason people complain about his MXGP2 results is because the rules were obviously changed more than once to benefit him. Nobody is saying he wasn't the best or didn't win,but he was supposed to move up and the rules were changed for him and then changed back afterwards. Thats what people have issues with those years he clearly padded his win total against much lower competition and he knows it LoL

I don’t buy into the notion that MXGP is so much better than American motocross. This whole debate on weather herlings is better than the US guys at motocross is silly. The US guys don’t even view motocross as their number 1 series. The US cares more about supercross. So the guys in the US don’t train as much for moto as herlings has so of course herlings is probably a little bit better at times. However, The fact that Tomac and Webb have done pretty good against herlings throughout the years in motocross should be an indicator of how good US guys are with limited motocross training. Imagine them only focusing 100% of their year on motocross. Then maybe herlings would get his ass beat by US guys on the regular.
@LFoxo-gn4kb
@LFoxo-gn4kb Жыл бұрын
Or maybe you’re making excuses for the US guys? Ifs and buts. At face value, when Herlings lines up against US guys, he wins more often than not. When he’s raced against US guys it’s usually at the end of the AMA outdoors season anyway so they’ve had plenty of recent MX training and racing but Jeffrey is just faster
@ScottAllenSparks
@ScottAllenSparks Жыл бұрын
@@LFoxo-gn4kb lol. Ok, let’s see herlings line up at a supercross race where the US guys are at their best and see how good his skills are instead of just pinning it around the track. We’ll never see that of course lol. You can try and tell me until I’m blue in the face how you think the MXGP guys are better but I’m not buying it. 👍🏻
@LFoxo-gn4kb
@LFoxo-gn4kb Жыл бұрын
@@ScottAllenSparks I should’ve clarified, I don’t necessarily think that MXGP guys are better than US, I just think that Herlings is better than the US guys of his generation. He is a generational talent, just like Jett Lawrence. That’s just my opinion.
@ScottAllenSparks
@ScottAllenSparks Жыл бұрын
@@LFoxo-gn4kb I can agree with you that herlings is a talented rider. The only way to find out if he’s better than the US guys is to get healthy and come to the states in 2024 for the FULL motocross season and race a healthy Jett, sexton and Tomac( I say Tomac because I think if he does well in supercross i think he’ll line up for motocross too). That needs to happen.
