i don't like upenn (is upenn worth it? the toxic culture of ivies)

My daughter decided in Freshman year, during rush, that it wasnt worth belonging to a sorority. Too much money, time commitment, narrowing of her social group of friends. Now that she is graduated, NOT joining a sorority was the best thing she did. She still hung out with those girls, but also had more time to hang out with others and do activities she wanted to do.

Graduated from Duke's BSN program, your grades do not define you. I graduated with an OK GPA and noone has asked for my GPA since graduating a few years ago. A nursing degree is tough with clinicals. I think it is great that you are priotizing your well being and social life - it's a balance.

Hi Jenny Try to work hard, play hard and do not worry about the grades. As a student of an Ivy College, the most important is to graduate with whatever grades one can get. If joining the clubs takes too much of your studying time, just don't go there. You could join the clubs again when you are back on track, and, have more time for social activities. Still 3 years to go.

I hope and pray that Jesus continues to guide and protect you during your time of adversity. Life is especially in this day in age is extremely hard Social media along with the internet (artificial intelligence) is being used to validate us as humans and if we don't have what society expects from us, we are unfortunately disregarded and seen as less than. In addition, UPenn is known for it's toxic culture and I was afraid of that if I had decided to go the UPenn to pursue my undergraduate degree. But to be honest, toxic culture is at every College/Universities in America. I just wanted to tell you to hang in there and to trust God. You are perfect in God's eye. You may feel inadequate, but you are enough. He made you in his image don't let anyone or thing discourage you from that truth. You have so many talents and continue to use them to uplift and brighten the world. Please continue to take great care of yourself and don't let the way of the world defeat you. I'm rooting for you.
