hi..I've been following your channel for a while and you probably don't need anyone else to tell you how skilled you are but I got to say you're the type of player who can either inspire someone to play better or to put the instrument down forever..I hope I'm the former haha

the way you play this song remind me China Poplin from Sumter playing "I don't want to get married" on his old Epiphone resonator banjo

Cliff, I was wondering if you could put up a new instructional video on the song, walking boss, Thomas ashley...that would be great...

Loved to learn this, as a sidenote: any reason you stopped doing close ups of your songs?
@wardbreeden65734 жыл бұрын
The very beginning of this video can be your close-up! Just use the little cog wheel in a corner of the video to slow it down however much you like, great tip I learned from another video of Clifton’s.
@CliftonHicksbanjo4 жыл бұрын
I used to upload "close-ups" as separate videos; now they are included in the "lesson" videos. We're also providing tabs for each song here: patreon.com/cliftonhicks

hey clifton thanks again for sharing this lesson for free. But, i do have a question. Whenever im doing the e minor run and then i slide up to fourth fret on all the strings it sounds so off. I'm in the same tuning as you so i dont know what the problem could be?
@NoQuestions4sked3 жыл бұрын
Your intonation is probably off. Adjust the distance of your bridge from the tailpiece, and try cocking it at an angle. Test which produces the best overall intonation, a banjo will never have great intonation without a compensated bridge.

In general how often and for how long do you practice? I try to get in at least 30 minutes.
@CliftonHicksbanjo4 жыл бұрын
I never learned anything by formally practicing exercises or anything like that. Just try to play and _sing_ for a few minutes each day.
@blainechappell53834 жыл бұрын
@@CliftonHicksbanjo that's exactly to what I'm referring. Practicing and singing old songs you already know, and songs you're learning. After 7 months, learning new songs is coming easier and quicker. I'm staying to be able to do it by ear rather than rely on tab and note. Which feels great.

Now what the hell do you suppose they were thinking? I mean who on Earth puts more lyrics over what's obviously an instrumental breakdown? It must have been truly awful.

When asked about racism Morgan Freeman he said that beat way to get past it was to stop talking about it.
@stephenbouchelle77063 жыл бұрын
What D chord is that? It doesn’t look like anything I googled for G tuning.
@CharlieDavis-ww4zf Жыл бұрын
It's a D5 a compromise between D and Dm - or a power chord if you think that way.
