It's ubisofts fault for telling everyone it would be built off of blackflag , and saying it's a AAAA game. That set everyone's expectations to be a more immersive pirate sim. Turns out it's The Division with pirate ships, and as a live service looter shooter, it's fantastic, but it's nothing close to what we were expecting because ubisoft didn't correct expectations. Again though, as a live service division style game, it's great

I enjoyed my time but i didn't go into this game expecting much. but i love the naval comat and the progression of ship building. Honestly, I love the game I know hot take, but I just think it's not for everyone it's a live service game just like gotham knights and some others that had a slow start but become really really fun but the maps also have a description on the top of the map and the islands aren't big maps aren't that bad lol but again game isn't for everyone but I shall continue to enjoy the game like I have since the 8th. Don’t let people make decisions for you, I have the game and I enjoy it. These people aren’t wrong about what they say but despite all that you can still enjoy playing the game. At the end of the day that’s all that matters. So don’t build a sour taste in your mouth for the game just because all these other people are shitting on it. If you wanna play it then give it a try. But what I will say is if you are going to spend money on this game make sure u have a friend that also plays. The game definitely isn’t worth $70 and if my friend didn’t ask me to get it I wouldn’t have. Although I enjoy it and don’t regret my purchase the game isn’t worth $70 with all its flaws and especially if you’re playing solo.

exactly. It's all they had to do. Improved sword combat, actual ship boarding...larger world and even a more focus on pirates. This did not need to be competitive multiplayer (which is why they removed sword combat)...co-op is all they neeed. This game could have been so amazing but they lost themselves in monetization and big, "epic" ship battles. Sure, the ship combat was "fun" in black flag but it only worked because it was cohesive with ALL The other elements of the game

The reason it took 10 years is because it’s been through at least 5 different directors who each wanted to do something different and so the whole game was changed. The version we got took about 2 years to make.

But engine wise, it was probably unchanged during that 10 year cycle. So that is why it still looks like a 360/PS3 game. Game was still built on top of a decade old engine.

This game was built on a 10 decade old engine during development, which they had to work on the same old engine during the constant back and forth between what the game was meant to be... 2 years for this game, build on top of a 10 year old decade engine... I know that once a developer starts working on game and the game-engine is already been built into it... It's really hard to scrap that old engine for a new generation one during mid development... That is why this game looks worse than all latest Assassins Creed games, and this game is visually the same or worse than Black Flag... WHICH IS AN 11 YEAR OLD GAME.

I've been playing it, and i don't love it, but it's definitely not that bad. I think we all just set our expectations high. It should definitely be a free to play game, not $70 they can make money from battle pass and micro transactions
