Like many, I preferred walking around each room in turn and seeing different surprises. I too wished to see the big engine out the back. I also think there may be a market available if they look at their paints, contrast and washes a friends opinion 😊

yes I think it certainly had more character back then..

Suprised not to see some of the older Triang stuff like Mimic ships and Arkitex buildings and the early overhead wire stuff inc the early locos like electra . Nice video, I've never been there myself

Did you not notice the Reliant Regal (Robin) was set up to be a giant Scalextric car?
@Thecheekyengine11 ай бұрын
No I can't say I did actually.. that's quite a nice touch I suppose!!
@ianellis563411 ай бұрын
Sorry to be annoying but why does everyone say Robin Reliant when they should say Reliant Robin? Actually it's a Reliant Regal anyway!
@Thecheekyengine11 ай бұрын
Haha you know I know its reliant Robin but I was always just brought up saying Robin reliant, that's all I can say 😅

I find it funny they call it the wonder works and the way in is a non descript doorway with a sun faded Walls branded bin leaning over to the side of it lol

Yes it certainly is a strange choice. The whole open plan layout from the minute you walk in the door gives me mixed feelings.. if I was hornby I would of at least have a table at the front highlighting the one one collection idea next door.. but that's probably dead ATM! Very strange!!

I agree it is quite bad now.

I'm not a fan of the new atmosphere, there is way too much mint green in places. Feels like i'm im a chocolate shop or something! All the new layouts are boring and simple in my opinion.
@Thecheekyengine11 ай бұрын
I agree!! It is rather a strange colour choice and the layouts are rather basic.. it just seems a bit dumbed down and definitely half of what there used to be!!
@desmondjamesleggett99010 ай бұрын
don't like the decor, was much better before this so called upgrade. the entrance is so poor very un-inspiring and when you get inside it looks a mess. colour schemes awful.

The 1:1 museum is nothing to do with hornby, and the whole site including Wonderworks doesn't belong to Hornby anymore. Since Hornby returned back to Margate, they hire back office space and the space housing thebshop, winderworks and cafe from the owners of the site, who are " Locomotives Services Limited" based at Crewe. The museum also belongs to LSL and has been storing various items of rolling stock, the museum is 2 yrs behind schedule but progressing. Bittern is due to leave for the NYMR where a purpose built shed is being constructed for its overhaul, its due to leave around June time and head North. The Pullman car was the observation car from Swanage and is only temporary, it too will head back if not already gone, back to Swanage for the 2024 season. Hornby have no jurisdiction over anything at their former HQ. The Wonderworks is constructed in exactly the same square footage as the former visitor centre, it's just had all the walls taken down, samevsoace, new look ( and very poor at that too, everything that was of interest regarding the early years and progression of hornby has been swept away, a shocking shame, Wonderworks is simply a glorified expansion of a showroom, and not worth paying to access in my opinion. Hope these details help clarify things for you.

I know the 1:1 is LSL crewe, it just seems the only updates seem to have come from Hornby and it just seems to have all gone cold... unless you know different buddy? And yes I did state that with bittern and happy about that, she deserves to be out on the mainline again to joint her brother sir nigel.. in regards to the wonder works I was wondering if it wad the same size and just open planned.. its such a shame the vintage/nostalgia side of it is gone and they are more focused on showcasing what they offer now... so sad as it could be so much more!! Thanks for the info my friend!

@@Thecheekyengine I agree, it's all gone remarkably quiet, I've personally watched lots go into the proposed museum, Class 37, Deltic 9016, Bittern, Black 5, 4 SUB, 503 Wirral Unit, Eurostsr 3006, Churchill Funeral Baggae Car etc etc, but stuff now seems to come out in darkness, 60081 is due in, and I'm told 73002 in large logo, time will tell, but yes, silence in this case is not golden. I concur yiu dud indeed mention Bittern and the Black 5, acknowledged, just helping confirm a few things, as many people I've actually witnessed when the visitor centre was open expected to go see Bittern etc and really annoyed they couldn't. I personally think LSL and Hornby should've clarified things more clearly from the onsett of the visitor centre and relationship with LSL , look forward to your next video, cheers and all the best.

@hortoncommonmodelrailway Gordon highlander is in there? That winds me up even more!! Your telling me there's is one of the deltics in there a class 37 and the Churchill funeral car and its all locked away no word said about it!?? WOW!! They do need to communicate more to the public.. I would rather the warehouse/show room looked horrendous and just open it for people to see it rather than this like it didn't exist.. thankyou my friend next video this Sunday... have a guess.. model or railway vlog?

@@Thecheekyengine oh yes they're in there, and 47841 in Intercity, due to go back to LSL and be replaced I've heard by 47501 in green after suffering a major brake failure. 37180 wentnin on 21st August 2021, 9th January 2020 Eurostar 3006 went in, 12th Dec 2019 Sir Nigel Gresleys support coach went in, but is now back with Sir Nigel, 4 SUB went in 18th June 2018, Bitterns 2nd Tender came out after unloading Ravingham Hall into the complex, the tender back to LSL Crewe. 20th June 2022 a Bulleid Brake arrived, can't find log for Deltic D9016, think it was 2020. Also inside is a Wickham Trolley, Original Silver Jubilee Beaver Tail coach, 503 Mersey Rail unit, spare coach from EPB 5176 for spares to fix 4732, a Mobile crane from Crewe, and that's about all I can remember along with Winstons Baggage car in Pullman Livery. Incidentally a further pullman coach from his funeral train is now at the Kent & East Sussex for restoration - "Isle of Thanet", originally part of the Thanet Belle, whilst Pullman car Fignal from the funeral train is in the Bluebell Railway, 34051 Winson Churchill at Shildon.

looking at this i wont be wasting my time and money going, you can see the kids in the background running around as not much to interest them, lots of plain stuff spread around to make it look full up and with the over priced shop at the end. All the displays in plain glass cases with non inspiring writing and little interaction for the kids, a big no from me.
@Thecheekyengine11 ай бұрын
Yes that was my main bugbear with the whole thing... the displays were all pretty much copy and paste in each section
