As someone who plans to go to a bakery and pastry arts college I can tell you that red velvet cake was named as such due to the chemical reaction between the cocoa powder and buttermilk. This reaction creates a brown-pink kinda color. Nowadays we add a bunch of food dye to give it a true red color though. Chocolate cake has a higher amount of cocoa powder and is usually made with coffee to enhance the chocolate flavor. Thank you for reading!

Yeah its choclately but also has a sour fruity note from mixing it with buttermilk or if you don't have that most use vinegar with regular milk. Which almost gives the vibes of ruby chocolate which is made in a similar process to express more sour fruity flavors of the chocolate.

A lot of flavoured coffees are either flavoured with sugar syrups (the stuff in cafes) or for some reason instant coffee that claims to be sugarfree but has a ton of sweetener in. As someone who really enjoys flavored coffee and drinks it all the time, I personally have found that most [if not all] of them should NOT be enjoyed black. The best way is to add creamer; either a vanilla/plain flavored creamer, or something that will, in theory, compliment the flavor of the coffee. Green Mountain Wild Blueberry is one of my favorites, but it NEEDS creamer to be enjoyable, otherwise it's honestly very acidic and unpleasant to drink. That being said, there are definitely some flavors that just...do not translate well no matter what. (You can add granulated sugar to sweeten but it needs to have milk or cream or half&half or _something_ added or it is entirely too acrid and undrinkable.)

Welcome to the first episode of: Morgan Roasts Coffee Pods! 😂 "It's chemicals! 1!" *dramatic sound affect* "Vanilla spice... 1!' *dramatic sound affect* Coney Island Caramel was a surprise. Didn't think that would have a favorable flavor. The mystery pod was dramatic! But I had no idea there was such a thing as peanut butter... coffee. Peanut butter crunch was no surprise here. And the very first Last Place contestant is: Peppermint Stick. The Oh Fudge one makes me think of a particular scene from A Christmas Story. Random association, but easy to make. Funniest line: "I've kind of forgotten what normal coffee tastes like at this point." Morgan, you are awesome for putting yourself through this much meh coffees. Celebrate, and take a break. I loved this, and I would LOVE to see the equivalent but with syrups! (like from the Monin collection maybe) I've made so many questionable choices in the coffee isle of supermarkets, getting charmed by flavored coffees such as maple, hazelnut, pumpkin, etc. Most of these were pretty decent, but since I love strong coffees and most of these usually are pretty light (I suppose to appeal to a broader clientele), I often end up feeling like making myself a good cup of strong real coffee instead, and the flavored ones just keep sitting in my cupboards. That's why I decided that from now I'll switch to syrups, so that I can add flavors to a better base coffee when I feel like it.

My experience with Keurig coffee pods from different manufactures was like a contest from the manufactures to put the least amount of ground coffee into a pod while maintaining a hint of coffee taste. I never could find a decent dark roast experience that felt "bold" or a Sumatra or anything with a dominant taste. The pods just tasted watered down. My son bought me a Keurig for his place as he and his partner don't drink coffee. I told him to sell it and I bought a Mocha pot for his place instead, a wonderful experience.

I don't use the ready made K-cups, I use the ones you put your own coffee into the pod. It is very good! Too bad you weren't able to try it that way, Those ready made pods are way too expensive for my budget, but like I said, the pods that you put your own favorite coffee into them are really good! Much better than having to make a whole pot of coffee in a coffee maker & by the time you get to your second cup, it's no longer fresh anymore. I really like having a fresh cup every time.
@ricknicholson5894 Жыл бұрын
@@latachia_2981 Try out a 10 cup stainless steel moka pot. The cup measurement on moka pots is not what you and I are used to, much smaller cups. The coffee is stronger, the closest thing to espresso without it being espresso. The water goes through a 1 1/2 bars of pressure versus 9 bars on an espresso machine (which I also own). Something like 98 % of all homes in Italy have a moka pot. I'm willing to bet you will like it.

I started with Keurigs really early and even owned stock. I learned quickly to stick with simple flavors and mostly with single origins or solid blends. The issue with Keurig is they don't have all that much volume in the container for coffee, and its even worse when they have to add flavors and especially sweeteners. Basically you get sucralose because its so compact. And I can't stand the flavor of Sucralose. The other issue with the platform is that the coffee HAS to be allowed to stale after brewing. (otherwise the outgassing will burst the containers) I shifted to Superautos and programmed mine for long shots to be really close to coffee. Recently changed to one made specifically for coffee, and have not looked back. After going back to fresh roasted coffee I could not go back. (yes, I have weighed my pucks and compared them to what is in a K-cup -- its basically double) I made decent money on the stock when it was bought out, too. K-cups can be decent, but the flavors are where they are pretty poor.

Hmm, one comment: I would imagine those tend to be intended to be sweetened. Sugar acts very much like salt in that before it's concentrated enough to taste sugary (or salty in the case of salt), it helps bring forward other flavors. I suspect the flavors would be much more present vs. the "just on the nose" phenomenon you described, if you added maybe a single sugar cube.
