I grew up drinking only sodas my whole life from childhood up until I hit 22, where I suddenly switched to water because I had a mountain of health issues, namely weight, blood pressure, but not at risk of diabetes for some reason. The first month after switching to water it made me super sick, like I had to go to the hospital sick, apparently your body adapts to even unhealthy routines, but I have dropped a lot of weight with cutting out soda completely as well as exercise and proper diet, I was 283, I am currently 224, blood pressure has improved but still an issue, but I have noticed mental health issues increased significantly. Edit: It is worth mentioning the chief reason people get diabetes isn't simple sugar intake, but the fact that people don't allow themselves to get hungry, it is important your body has time to switch between breaking down sugars to producing glycogen, this is why my blood sugar never got into even pre-diabetic levels, because I didn't eat every single time I was even slightly peckish like some people do.

I drank only sodas for an entire summer once due to depression and binging and I ended up gaining 50 pounds...I got more depressed and stared to hate myself and I didn’t want to even go to work out or anything...but then I just looked in the mirror and said “I’m gonna stop this” I haven’t drank 1 soda for at least a year now...guys you can do it if you really put your mind to it and I’m telling you I’ve never felt more healthy than I ever have. When the entire pandemic started and lockdown was a thing I decided to quit soda. For one I have anxiety and soda definitely doesn’t help, and then I take adderall for my adhd which already makes my heart work harder. I used to drink one can of coke a day. Then with lockdown, I started cutting it down, to half a can for a week, then 1/3 of a can, until I eventually stopped. Honestly it’s been great! My anxiety has been a lot better, my heart isn’t beating at a ridiculous level, and overall I’m just in a better mood. I will occasionally have a caffeine free coke, but that’s not often.
