This is an iconic song, worthy of becoming a classic for generations to come. Great melody, great story-telling, and an ensemble of truly great performers. Adrian's countermelody on the fiddle is brilliant! And, as always, Louise and Dave singing beautifully in perfect harmony. I've lost count on the number of times I've listened to this wonderful song!

These guys have a way of growing on you. Not sure exactly why. I'm more of a rocker. But there's just something about them.

Props go out to the hippy guy in the background who said one time he'd never let the man change him

What a wonderful love story. You pait quite the picture. Growing up on the Great Lakes, there are many cameo appearances from my youth in your song. I DO remember light houses. And in the ‘light’ of receint changes in my home country, this song kind of hits home a little more these days. Cheers!

This band has a hold of my heart. I could listen to this song over and over again... wish the CD that it's on wasn't out of recording...

Ask them. They are all over social media. Most likely a download is a more reasonable wish.

Anyone know if they came up with the story themselves? Or is it based on something?
@bradfuller51237 жыл бұрын
It is an old Irish folk song.

Correction - It's an original. They only play a few old numbers, and they're Appalachian tunes. Dave (guitar) and Louise(voice) are damn fine songwriters.
@queenartist1577 жыл бұрын
But finely enough, they are irish from Dublin!
@RockyRoader7 жыл бұрын
Indeed, I forgot to mention that!

Ah, but that is where the Appalachian people came from, there and Scotland. Cromwell shipped the first bunch. The old tunes were preserved, and the more recent songs still sound like this. This is a classic Appalachian murder song, like Omie Wise.
