It has to do with the area and regulations. Its very niche. Its for very rich people who live in a golf cart community that want something nicer than a golf cart. People will no doubt wrap these and customize these just like the carts.

The "low speed vehicle" areas are all over the place in Central Florida. There's a ton of Mokes driving around downtown Winter Park. They're for people with way too much money to burn.

Please look into the EliZero! It's in Europe now and coming to America this fall. Starts at $12k, has full body that looks like a smart car, air conditioning and heat, lithium battery with 60+mi range. Again, it's designed as a NEV/LSV so 35mph and under communities.

Learned to drive in an early Mini and rented a Moke for a week in Barbados a very long time ago. They were a great way to get around when it’s warm out but when it rained, you got wet. I love my EV, but somehow I feel the electric Moke is missing something. The old cars were like go-carts to drive because of their weight and complete lack of protection compared to this. Nice to see a blast from the past, though.

I used to drive one around Riverside Raceway back in the day with the A-series FWD motor. Lots of fun. Price isn't too bad for a low volume electric with LI batteries. The batteries, controller, BMS and charger is rather expensive in low volumes. Cars sold in the hundreds rather than hundreds of thousands- like a Leaf. Also, good promotion for the resort. You can't miss a pink Moke.

15 amps at 70 volts = 1kW charging speed. Considering a 7.x kWh battery, you need 7-8 hours overnight to fill it back up. I saw these at Bert's Mega Mall. My sales guy told me the Kardashians came in recently and bought a bunch of them in random colors.

People are not buying these for a daily driver, but for resorts and such. Or to get around your compound. Something you can trust your kids in.

You're totally missing the point of this thing. These are purpose designed for tourist locations. It's hot, you don't want to climb into something and you want the unique experience to feel like you're on vacation. Plus it's a marketing tool for you resort/hotel. Climbing into an egg shaped BMW is the exact opposite.

If I had the money to live in a resort town, 1000% would have this. Not everyone is 6’+. At 5’2” on a tall day I STRONGLY prefer small vehicles over large ones. The smaller, the better. If the weather where I was conducive to such an open vehicle, this could handle much of my daily life in a semi-urban community. Golf carts are plentiful here. This expands golf cart range a little bit. I’d love to have this if I lived in a warmer, more upscale location. Also, seriously Kyle, you can’t really be hung up on a pink vehicle? Pink is VERY classic resort vibe. I’m quite surprised it doesn’t come with a Lilli Pulitzer-designed interior in pink and pale green plaid. Would be epic. So retro cool.

Unfortunately, putting in a repurposed golf cart battery just devalued it. There are better lithium batteries out there made specifically for the Moke which will take it to 40+ mph. LithiumMoto comes to mind.

I think buying up a bunch of BMW i3s would make more sense. Also, you'd have tonnes of cash to cut glass roof into each car. It retains luxury and quirkiness with practicality. Big plus, you can take the i3 on the highway.😅

The biggest reason is insurance. You need to insure and tag the i3's even if you don't use them often. With these LSV's, usually zero insurance is required with some states requiring minimal coverage at less than $100/yr.

Golf carts that are legal for the regulations in a golf cart community cost a stupid amount of money, my town just started to allow golf carts and the cheapest ones are like $15k, no clue why you wouldnt just buy a leaf

105ah pack on that is pretty pathetic. I had a lithium conversion done on my 1998 Ezgo and it has the same size pack, a Roypow which is very similar to the EcoBattery. While my 6 passenger LSV cart has a 210ah battery pack...and the cart is probably lighter than the Moke.
