ZapMap shows that the Lidl store on Devonshire Road, Blackpool has a CCS Rapid charger run by PodPoint @ 65p/kwh. Also, a low power 50 kWh CCS run by Blink at New Larkhill St near to the North Pier. Then five sites a bit South at Lytham and another couple North at Thornton Cleveleys. In fact, there are 12 Rapid charge sites showing near to Blackpool centre. And at least 50 destination chargers. Not sure why your ZapMap doesn't show them unless you have deliberately filtered such operators out in the settings. Go back in there and select a lot more Charge companies because it looks like you have only enabled a few.

- I remember going to Carcassonne 19 years ago, I was impressed how expensive the toll roads in France were... (my first experience on 130km'h legally, before many trips and driving in Germany became nearly second nature) - ...resigned to simply pay what it takes, if no other "high speed" alternative - Though one gets good at finding A-roads going the same places as the Peage roads... (Calais to the French border - expect each way to cost ~ 91EUR.. unless you skipped a few sections on A roads.) For parking tickets in a sportscar (or truck) a grabber - reacher would be handy. NACS charging cables are lighter (in North America) - but they can't fast charge on 3P AC power - available everywhere that isn't the USA ?/Canada. commercial CCS cables are nominally heavier if they are level 2 AC charge capable high voltage DC fast charge cables should all be smallish..... Petrol pump hoses are also thick and heavy.. WWho ever thought an unattended fueling depot wouldn't get vandalised or put out of action, from time to time..

Hello MacMaster, I am now watching your video again on my television (with a different account) and I am enjoying it again and I completely agree with you when it comes to politics and the EU (of which we Dutch are still part of and will continue to be, I think). As for politics, the same thing is happening across Europe as in the UK. So it must have been politically agreed because in the past we did not all have the same problems at the same time. It is because of the EU legislation in Brussels and the power of the USA that everything is forced on us. I am now over 60 and sometimes long for the time when we all had our own currency and boundaries where you had to stop when you went on holiday. There was some delay, but it had its charms. But unfortunately, I now sound like a very old man living in the past😂.Some things are really better now, but not everything. Thanks for the video and keep it up! I keep watching. You're damn right about Leeds City Council making the roads complicated so drivers receive fines. A classic example is the Stanningley Bypass. Two lanes with a double occupancy lane but illogically the double occupancy lane is lane 1 not lane 2. So if you're a lone driver you have to get into lane 2 otherwise you receive a fine. There's also a timed bus lane and gatso cameras on the road. 90% of your concentration is on looking at signs and markings so you don't get a fine. It's so dangerous.

Obvious why the EV charging stations are not up to standard and not available in the numbers required. Because the national grid cannot supply the amount of electrical power required. Imagine in 10 years time when the power required will have increased by 10 fold, you will be allocated days you can drive your EV on. It is an EV nightmare on the horizon, for a country with 0.8% carbon pollution. For reference, China 34% carbon pollution. We the masses are being scammed, by our own Government.

I have spent a fair bit of time over the last 40 years working outback with both the oil industry and Defence - I wouldnt be doing the Nullabor trip after October/November, the heat while you are sitting in your car waiting for the 22KW 3-phase chargers that are all many places have along the route will do you in. The Nullabor plain is not like coastal Perth weatherwise. The few chargers that exist along the route are often in remote locations, there are often no air-conditioned facilities nearby. There are few if any fast chargers, most are 3 phase wall outlets that will take you hours to charge your car. Sitting in the sun during the time it takes is not just inconvenient, in summer it can hit 50 degrees or more. "Nullarbor" is Latin for "No trees" so that might give you a clue as to the amount of shadiness along the route. Many roadhouses close early due to staff shortages so do not expect to turn up and just assume that you will be able to charge whenever you like. Also many charging points are provided due to the good nature of the business owner so if you act like a dick they are just as likely to tell you to find somewhere else! If you do run out of battery far from a settlement rescue is not just a phone call away, it can be several days wait for assistance unless a passing truckie is happy to load your dead car onto his trailer if he has spare space. To someone from the UK it may seem like a jolly jape to arrive here and toddle off along the Nullabor to see what adventures might come your way - and it will definitely make entertaining content - but please understand, it is NOTHING like driving along some motorway to Spain or whatever. To try it in an EV can be done but to make it less stressful and risky I'd recommend SERIOUS research, read Australian forums and call up businesses along the way prior in order to determine charging facilities and access.

The 1988 education bill reduced teachers’ holidays by one week, so they could have 5 days of in service education days to upgrade their skills. As an ex teacher I hated INSET days. Like everyone who criticises teachers, I always tell them there’s a shortage of teachers, and if you think the job is such a cushy number, why not apply for a job. All you need is a first, relevant degree, a masters, a PGCE and one year as a NQT. And by the way the money is not that good. That only takes 5 years before you are a fully qualified teacher.

It's like many places here in the North. I've said before that if the government carries on with this stupid mandate where there's no new ice cars come 2035 then this country is going to take a big economic hit because many people will be forced out of the workforce and here is why..... EVs are a punishment on the poor. Many of the places with poor EV charging infrastructure are also poor, left behind towns like my own that only get a fraction of the government funding per person than such as London. This creates a perfect storm whereby almost all of the jobs in my town are minimum wage, manual jobs where you have to attend a place of work. But because in recent years government subsidies have been cut we've lost 23% of all bus services. So we are more reliant than ever upon our personal cars to get the five miles to work at 5.30am on a weekend morning to start a twelve hour shift. But with all this the £30k per year I earn isn't enough after bills to buy an EV. Add to this the vast majority of houses in the town are the typical back to back terrace houses that only have kerbside parking and no driveways because it's a typical northern industrial town. So those people, even if they could afford an EV (which the can't on such low wages), would have to charge it at a public charger (when there are next to none in the town), when those public chargers are way more expensive to charge up at than at home (so a poor person has to pay more to charge all the time at public charge points because they've no driveway where a rich person pays less to charge their EV at home because they have a bigger house with a driveway). In terms of my own town there's a population of around 90k, about two thirds must live in terraced houses with only kerbside parking and there's only about a dozen public chargers for EVs in the whole town. Now you do the maths. It doesn't add up. The queues for those public EV charge points would be never ending. There would be hundreds of EVs queueing up to use each charger.

Blackpool isn't a charging desert they have a giant electricity wire running along the sea front. All you need is a insulated pole with a electrical contact on it that provides electricity into your battery. However you may have to move it when you see a tram coming.
@iainthomas2375 ай бұрын
@28:25 The question is "lighter than what". Cable thickness is basically related to the current carrying rating. And longer cables are heavier. Use too thin a cable at high current and it'll overheat and be damaged. Slow AC charging cables tend therefore to be not much thicker than a 13A extension lead. But takes many hours to charge. At most (?) superchargers, Tesla use thermal monitoring to de-rate the charge rate if the cable starts getting too hot meaning they can get away with fitting thinner cables. Plus all their cables are quite short as all the sockets in the cars are in the same spot. Most other chargers don't do this so either they fit thicker and heavier cables, or set full-time current limits which throttle charging rate. And they have to cope with all the different places charging sockets end up on cars. Arguably, there needs to be provision of attended accessible charging stations; I've seen signs in some filling station forecourts suggesting those needing accessibility assistance drive to the pump and then sound their horn to request assistance. Don't recall ever seeing anyone do that though. But it's nice to know the option should be there, at least at some filling stations. I hope it wasn't just an old sign and no one has done that for years.

I had a diesel BMW 3 Series, lovely car but I found it very difficult to tell where the wheels were and it was a real kerb-magnet - hated parallel parking in it but those car park entrances were the worst because it is so unnecessary. You have only got to look at all the scratches, gouges and scrapes on the kerb stones to see that this is a real issue. Makes me laugh that they often paint them yellow, as if acknowledging the problem - so if they know it is a hazard why put them there in the first place.

Not something I even consider in either of my two gas guzzling ICE cars, I drive as fast as I like whenever I like, with no thought of how much range I have left. I'll stick with ICE till it's no longer possible.

@@gravelbags2479 No, I was also looking at how yellow his pee was in an earlier episode and how tired he became and thats a lot of what ties in from an appalling diet

I play guitar or Uke along with the music for ear training. Great stuff, good selection for basic play-along practice.

Schools have to open for a set number of days per year to deliver education. Teachers also go in for a number of inset training days (used to be called 'Baker Days' after the Education Minister who introduced them). How you position the days of education is defined by the schools and published, usually 2 years in advance so that people can prepare. Inset is not another 'day off' for kids. (I'm not a teacher - I just know how schools work!)
