Legally, they cannot, as it has 4 tires. FMVSS says 3 tires is the max. Some states may be less stringent... But now that it has 4 instead of 3 tires, its not legally a motorcycle.

Around 2000 or so, I saw an episode where Jesse James made a trike out of a Cummins 855 by mounting a set of forks to the front of the engine, a seat on the left side of it, & the fuel tank above the axle. I don't remember if it had a transmission, but I think it had a 13 or 15 speed unit. It was pretty crude, but cool. This thing is AWESOME.

I hope this is a good channel to ask a motorcycle question so here it goes. In an episode of Ripley's Believe or Not they show cased this one motorcycle they claimed was the first custom motorcycle. From what I remember of it the motorcycle was so complex and so old that after it broke they could not fix it and had to transport it on a flatbed trailer. I was wondering if anyone else remembers anything about it.
