Alfred my friend - use rubber gloves, a respirator, and dilute the muratic solution. I have used it on tile and concrete work ( with protection) and always diluted. Don't Mix Muratic and your rust remover at teh same time, Lord knows what toxic fumes you are creating. No joke man!

What have we learned from this? NEVER leave your anchor chain on the deck! What a chit show! LOL In all seriousness I had the same problem and used Klean Strip Concrete prep from Home Depot or Lowes in a spray bottle. Spray it on and rinse it off . Good video. Shows a viable solution rust stains.

Muriatic acid will instantly rust any metal in the vicinity. The fumes will scar your lungs. And it does remove rust stains well.

From my experience Magica Rust Stain Remover would beat both of those products. Glad you mention the damage the Muriatic acid can do to gelcoat! Capt. Bob

Alfred my brother get the toilet bowl cleaner from the dollar store it's a couple of bucks and it has muriatic acid in it not the spray bottle kind the kind that has the squeeze bottle but whatever you do please wear a respirator when you work with any of that stuff believe me I know in my 30 + years of working on boats that stuff will screw up your lungs believe me I know

I know im beating a dead dog here.... but, you gotta wear a respirator when working with chemicals like muriatic acid. Also dont recommend mixing other chemicals with something as reactive as acid.... potentially deadly fumes can take you out from just a few seconds of exposure

get a blower carpet dryer motor first on the site to blow the fumes 100% away from you the complete mask kit that you cant breath the fumes hand gloves and steel wool pour one small cap of muriatic acid on one spot at a time start scrubbing, and dont breath it if it leaks walk away for a minute then return scrubing

Use ZUD . It takes out rust stains if you just leave it set for an hour . You come back and hose it off . Stick Whink in the sink and get rid of that crap . Forget the acid you dope . You're ruining your gelcoat .
