Hi love! I'm new to the tpn experience and have been in the hospital on tpn through PICC for the past month. I'll be going home with this and your video helped me so much with understanding HOW it'll work outside of the hospital. Thank you!!! I wish you didn't have to go through this honey...me either...but I'm grateful that we have the ability to eat some kind of way!!! Be blessed and Happy New Year!!!

Do you get any side effects when you start your TPN?
@jul621873 жыл бұрын
When running your TPN, does it ever smell like pancake syrup? I had TPN for about 1-2 months several years back, and It literally smelled like fresh pancake syrup every time it ran!

My Fiancée is now on TPN, hopefully temporary, while some other issues are sorted out. She has gastroparesis. She has a lot of concerns. Edit: She had surgery on the 20th, and it was successful! She has not needed TPN since.

It’s other nutrients and certain vitamins that have to be refrigerated and put in fresh for an infusion!

Any tips on air in line, need to prime situation during the night? Just started for my family member and had to do this 20 times during the night, is this normal? Ty and blessings 🙏
@ChronicallyLindsay2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes we have to clamp the end of the line and prime so that it will fill up the little filter/box and avoid any air in the line, we have to do that sometimes! It shouldn’t be constantly getting air in it over night thought you may wanna ask your home health care ppl or nurse about it if it’s still an ongoing issue 💖

TPN HAS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE FRIDGE 2-3HOURS BEFORE MIXING IT NEEDS TO BE ROOM TEMPERATURE,WHEN COLD IT GIVES OFF GAS BUBBLES AS IT WARMS UP,AT ROOM TEMP TPN LASTS ABOUT 18HOURS BEFORE IT STARTS TO GET CLOUDY, ON 12 HOUR PUMP IT LEAVES ABOUT 4 HOURS TO PLAY WITH IT,MOST OF THE LITTLE BUBBLES IS DISAPATED WHEN THE TPN GOES THRU THE 1.2MICRON FILTER

It could be because people need different doses of vitamins. For the air, i think it has to do with blockages or obstructions but i could be wrong.

@@ashlyen9389 no, it can cause an air embolism and if big enough it can kill you.

Do picc lines work with small veins? The constant ivs I’ve been getting are getting difficult
@ChronicallyLindsay3 жыл бұрын
I believe they should still be able to work on ppl with small veins, but I would def check with your doctor. That’s what happened to me I was having 6+ ivs in a hospital admission cuz they kept popping my veins and failing, my picc has been so amazing and helpful! Okay

Why don’t you have to wear gloves when touching all of the sterile items? Just wondering because anytime I touch my picc line, use saline flushes, or connect to my saline bags, I was told to always wear gloves. And to use hand sanitizer.
