i think this is just weird animation error? in other scenes we see that phoenix has the blue one and miles has the red one. plus earlier in the scene that was timestamped, you can see both phoenix and miles have red sleeves, so its possible miles is holding the red one, hes just, moved places inbetween shots somehow.

As kids Edgworth has a Blue bow tie and the details of Phoenix's shirt are Blue while their clothes have Red as the main colour. When they grow up Phoenix uses Blue and Edgeworth uses Red. The scarf that Edgworth put out is also Blue.

According to the canon, at this age he was already studying law in order to become a lawyer when he grew up. He had no friends and wasnt interested in games or cartoons. Thanks to Phoenix and Larry he had a normal childhood although it was short unfortunately(

The thing is if you do an adaptation a flashback like this is gold because it’s mentioned just a few times and we don’t really have any details so seeing 9 years old Edgeworth with his friends and when his father is still alive is amazing and the most cute thing ever.
