Just getting back to golf at 40 years old after long periods of no golf. Would love to get to the point where I could enter an amateur comp, but one area that makes me anxious would me marking someone else's card - I'm crap at keeping other ppls scores as I'm focusing on my own game.

when its like these conditions i always put my driver up to 13deg instead of 9 as carry distance is just about how far the ball travels plus its easier to hit have you ever thought about opening and closing the club face to shape your shots more i saw a few times in that round were you could have used it at 13 mins in instead of trying to go through you could have closed the face up aimed 5ft from the tree line and seen a nice draw upto the green i know its easy to say but if you dont practise these shots you will never be able to do them lol

Haha this wasn't the usual setup. The bad weather had soaked a lot of the course so they did their best to make it playable for the competition I think. It was a first on me too

You do not get 9 strokes on the 9 hardest holes. You get them on the holes with a stroke index of 1-9. That is not the same as the 9 hardest holes.

I might have like 1-2 rounds I have ever played that I would be willing to have filmed (and yes they are still 15-20 over). The rest are 15-20 over with 4-5 mulligans. Playing for fun and keeping it low stress is much easier than playing every lie, no “eff it” re-doing it shots.

All we have to do to get an idea as to the conditions is to look at your shoes lol. The evidence is all right there. You look as though you wore your golf shoes to go clam digging lol.

Well played Luke. It's crazy but you can see the pressure and how it impacts golf when you're in a competitive state. Conditions make it hard too of course but I think you should play more of these and get yourself used to feeling relaxed and confident despite everything! See how you go.

I hate to sound like a complete knob, but on hole 9, shit 2, you said your ball was and in the rough and well buried, did you clean and place your ball in the rough?? Watch you don't get disqualified bud from people watching this video, unless for some reason they were playing clean and place in the rough which is strange? Played well though mate

Course conditions meant you could lift, clean and place in pretty much all places mate. Even the bunkers! (Which I’ve never played before)
