We have seen many calm and peaceful people from all around the world. The world ranking of most peaceful and friendly people starts with Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland or Finland. But when you travel those countries you don't see any reason to be not peaceful as almost all the physical needs of those people are fulfilled overwhelmingly. SL has been in the top 5 ranking of the most generous nations globally, before its covid-led economic crisis. The same index ranked China last or near the bottom. There are some other indices that rank generosity that have placed SL 1st/2nd. I think the indices you refer to with the Nordics is concerned with 'happiness'. Well, anyone who has spent any time in Scandinavia will know that it is neither a particularly happy place, nor are its people exceptionally generous. Asia (South, South-East) win hands down.

I am a born Siri Lankan but never had a chance to visit to this monastery. Because I live in a different country and visit Siri lanka occasionally for attending Buddha-Bavaba. However, I really appreciate this video as it gave me an idea of what’s happening in an monastery and what sort of meditation practices are followed by those monks. I too meditate but the way how I practice ‘Ana-pana’ meditation is different to the practice that Rev monk explained. Anyway I wish him one day attain Nibbana. Thank you

Also, it has been scientifically proven that Sri Lanka's gravity is low because the thrust in our country is very low. In other countries, it is very difficult to meditate because of the pressure that falls from the sky to the earth. But in our country the gravity is minimal so it is very easy to relax the head to meditate. That is the specialty of our country. Our country is a spiritual country. 🙏

I don't really think this fact has major influence to the mediation. I have lived in several parts of the world which are very quite and peaceful. Only you can hear yourself. All you need is a calm quiet place to start your mediation.

I lived in the Kaludiya Pokhuna arannya in the cave kuti at the top of that hill with the great views between 1975-78 as a monk. It was much more rustic in those days. I enjoyed taking a periodic bath in the pond back then. Thanks for posting this video of your nice tour. It is nice to see how the monastery has developed.

In the '70s the forest behind the hill there were still wild elephants and the occasional leopard. I would meditate on that big rock you were afraid to climb up.

While I do really appreciate your work on showcasing such forest meditation centers in Sri Lanka, I would also like to point out a possible downside to it, if you don’t mind. Do you think some viewers might get the idea that these forest meditation centers are tourist attractions and they can visit them anytime just to enjoy the natural beauty there. The meditating monks would not like to attract tourists as that will be a huge obstacle and disturbance to their practice. Just a thought to ponder!

The small new hall, with the ancient stones-Bhante called Sima (sima means border) is to deter meetings. Meetings where are decisions (also concerning the hole community) can be made, need to be in a certain area-in a sima-marked by this stones. But the origin system changed already. It is a kind Organization System designed for a "normadic" society like the buddhist Sangha still is and was even more in the old Days.
