You get different amounts of ammo for the shotgun, depending on what difficulty level you are playing. On easy, I believe there are 8 pieces of ammo in the house (weapons cupboard, kitchen, security room and basement where you start from), on hard this drops down to just 4 and on extreme mode you only get the 2 that come with the gun in the cupboard. I'm pretty sure it's always been like that. 🙂

When I was playing I found a glicth. I don't know if they patched it but, when you go in the security room, crouch under the desk then go all the way back.
