So glad Tokyo kept most of their moats and waterways, when the majority of other cities with walls and moats leveled and filled in theirs. In both scenarios, they usually ended up being built over with ring roads or highways, but the elevated expressways over Kanda River is amazing from the water! Wouldn't look that cool had it been a moat-turned-road-trench like I think some other part of that same expressway, east of Ginza. To add, the part of Kanda River around there and the outer moats of Edo, I would say were a major feat of engineering in pre-industrial Japan, of the Tokugawa era. They were dug by hand, straight through hills, and in Kanda River's case, right down to near sea level, most strikingly at the Ochanomizu section. Overall, amazing video. More boat videos please!
