He was unlucky to walk into the chaos at Chelsea that crazy season. He had an enormous bloated squad full of factions and disaffected mercenaries, with a dressing room too small to fit them all in. I don’t think his time at Chelsea is true reflection of him as a coach. Yes he fudged it in the post match interviews with ‘the boys did well’ whenever we lost, but he’s clearly a talented coach. He turned Brighton into a real force after they’d spent years under Houghton barely staying up with horrible football. I do wish people in this would stop mickey taking with our English coaches. It’s shameful and disgraceful. People should give him more support and wish to see him do well. There’s a nastiness in our culture that doesn’t exist in Spain, Italy, Germany. We worship Guardiola and Klopp like gods, then treat English coaches to the Graham Taylor ‘turnip’ treatment. It’s bigotry actually.
@dorualex3092
@dorualex3092 Ай бұрын
thats what you think EVEN IF There was no "chaos" at Chelsea he still wouldnt be able to do well imo, he doesnt have that manager level that Chelsea needed, a step too big from brighton to chelsea but ofc we cant blame him for taking the job. Even now with Enzo Maresca like ok he did very well but in championship its a big gamble again imo Todd Boehly idk if it knows what hes doing, you wouldnt see these managers hired by Abramovich i believe, abramovich hired lampard cus he has too much respect for lampard for the player he was and his character but ofc Lampard lucks experience and in no life you will do well at big clubs if you dont have experience before at managing big clubs, total different pressure to manage Chelsea than Brighton or Everton, im i rem good Lampard did bad even at Everton were is lower pressure compared to Chelsea

When I heard that Gareth Southgate had resigned, I said straightaway my first choice would be Graham Potter, he’s got a very good track record except with Chelsea, but it doesn’t seem to be ending well whoever goes there at the moment. He’s a bit like Southgate, he’s a very intelligent man and I think he would work along very well with the FA and keep all the changes that Southgate made.

What do Brighton supporters think? From what I heard and read, they were a top 6 team under Potter, just didn't have enough to consistently put away chances they created. From what I saw I thought they were doing incredibly well, for a team from a lower division. Good signings. But I've heard it said, no plan B, poor subs, not much flexibility and Brighton fans were sick of it by the end?

However, I look at him and ask myself the question: Can he win a major tournament for England?🤔 (P.S. He’s 49; this makes it even _more_ inevitable. Never underestimate the power of the 7 in _everyone’s_ lives. When you get a 7 x 7 that just increases its power. If you haven’t already done so, put a generous amount of money on Potter and you’ll get a sweet return if you’re brave.)

When we will ever learn, another manager trotted forward who has never won a pot to p**s in, England do not need a development officer to make players who are worth 5 million worth 50 million, the England job is about selecting elite talent, being able to manage them, and making them play the way you say to win a trophy, we have had two managers in 30 years who achieved part one, venables and hoddle, give Harry the part time job it is, and let Southgate oversee diplomatic relations.

The coaching in English football must be diabolical. All the natural talent is coached out of players now. We need a Hoddle, Waddle, Beardsley and Gazza.

I never really thought about it this way but it is kind of weird how much this guy potter looks like gareth southgate actually 🤣 its a bit uncanny maybe the players might think southgate changed his mind if the next time they get together to play for england they see graham potter🤔

Would be a disastrous appointment another negative coach certainly not an upgrade on Southgate and failed in his one big managerial role in no time at Chelsea. Would be the cheap easy option with nothing but failure, England require an elite manager who has won major trophies to get them over the line.

Why do the FA get to choose who the next manager should be ?

Because it`s their team, I would suppose, and it`s the general thing for FA`s the world over to choose their manager.

In all his matches at Chelsea he never played the same team twice, had absolutely no clue what his best team and preferred style was. He was clueless. He's never gonna be able to make calls like Foden/Bellingham or dropping Kane. He can't make big decisions and isn't clear on his own approach. He failed miserably at Chelsea.
