How does the show work, behind the scenes, as far as the cards go? They say on the show that, if it's a lie, then the person is reading the card for the first time, but is that actually true? Do the panelists never actually know what the cards are going to say beforehand? Because if so, that's an incredibly believable lie he managed to come up with on the spot.

i believe if its their first time they will get interviewed and basically asked to give them some whacky true stories about their life and just tell them more about their life and interests so if the producers give them a lie card they would be able to riff the story better. so they probs knew that filly was into football so he was able to lie about it easier

For example, he probably did play a footie game as a goalie where he had to fill in for his sick mate as a kid, but he didn't fall asleep/was subbed.

Even if he didn't fall asleep playing football, at some point, I believe he did almost fall asleep at school because he played video games all night. That detail was too perfect for it to not have happened to him at some point.
