Come to Alaska! In Ketchikan (town, can't remember the name of the island itself) when Ward Lake freezes the ice gets 5 feet thick in some places, people even go ice-skating on it! Just make sure the bears don't steal your garbage can. And this is sarcastic. It's cold as heck there and I hated it.
