Caste, class and colorism is ingrained in both the cultures of Black (African) and Indian histories. If anything you BOTH have more in common than you lack. I've express to you both on your IG profile how uplifting you both are to share your stories and experiences. I am married to an Australian who is very prophetic in her calling and I am an evangelist in my calling. Actually a good match for advancing the Kingdom. If you’re looking for a certain nationality then I’m sorry that you’ll be disappointed in the future due to the unseen cultural differences. I am from Jamaica and the Jamaican motto says 'Out of many, one people'. This means that their are many races in Jamaica, slavery brought Africans, indentured workers brought Indians, rich Jewish, Lebanese, European Oriental Asians from China & Japan and other Asians from the Indian sub- continents are all in Jamaica. All of them are Jamaicans first before where they ancestors originally came from. You will never hear a Chinese man born and bred in Jamaica call themselves Chinese they will identify as jamaican- Chinese, likewise Jamaican Indian etc All of these different peoples are the melting pot of Jamaica and what emerges is distinctly Jamaica. It's not Indian, European,, Jewish etc it is Jamaica that why our Moto ' Out of many , one people' is so apt.

That is true they mixed more now then before. It is very common to see Indians mixed with creole people and other racial groups. Surianame is very diverse and has Chinese, Jewish since 1600 and Dutch, french and portuguese, lebanese, pakistani's, Indians, Javanese and of course the original people who are the taino, arowaks, the caraibs and the surinen indiginous Indians, and can't forget the Indigenous black groups that are descendant from runaway slaves during slavery times and most of them still live in the rainforests but some migrated to the city and have intermingled with the Indians and javanese. Another ethnic group was created called the "Dougla"" Means a person of biracial ethnicity.

I am West Indian living in the US for most of my life, My father disowned me when I was pregnant with my son his father is black American, unfortunately he turned out to be a horrible person and I ended up being a single parent and had to be both mom and dad but I have my son. One of my aunts told me I messed up our family by having a black child. It’s unfortunate that we go through this but I’m glad that your families were accepting of each other. I follow you on tik tok and I have wondered about this and even forced my hubs to watch and have given him scenarios so I’m happy you made this video bc I’m nosey 😂 I am Mexican and husband is Indian. We met at grad school and he didn’t understand the concept of ‘dating’ either. His parents aren’t for ‘love marriage’ bc ‘it never works out’ they say. But They were quite pleased that I’m fair and have the ‘Indian look’. They are very open in admitting that they accept son marrying outside his race rather than lower caste. I am first generation American born and parents being the opposite of ‘Americanized’ I can say that our traditional family values, dynamics, and gender roles are very similar so I raise eyebrow at his parents the same way I do at mine. But I can not imagine how frustrating it would be for a ‘westernized’ women to integrate and to deal with such point of views. And I don’t think it’s so much of color as it is culture (although colorism is a big deal for a lot of brown cultures/ minorities ofc). So very happy to hear that you have a good experience with in laws and your hubby is very lucky to have understanding parents that are supporting him even if his marriage is not what society finds ‘acceptable’. After 6 yrs of marriage We found that the key for interracial marriage is not so much understanding as it is accepting/ tolerating 😂 best of luck ❤

Hey my loves so the issue at hand wasn’t even an issue love this video!!! And from the gate I knew this wouldn’t be an issue myself bc for a few reasons if you date South Asians typically the issues they have is religion, culture, cast, money and education differences it’s what determines wealth and advancement in the Indian Culture even among the East /West Indian cultures to be forthright. In all honesty if you’re on par with these areas then there isn’t an issue is how their society thinks. Colorism is the biggest issue among my people (Indians whether from East, West and South). I can speak to this because it’s one of the issues I had in my own upbringing for many years. I suffered identity issues and still sometimes do let’s chat more offline on that topic. But to get back on track I love you both and ultimately although family is very important knowing that you both were willing to hold on to each other and God is what will grow your new family unit outside of the extended family because your new legacy is what will dictate your future as the New Karne family. Love you both loads…😘😘😘 sorry for the long rant.

It’s great that his family trusted him to make a decision. I have a Indian friend that marriage was arranged in India and there was concern of her husband’s complexion. Her husband is darker. I told her colorism is in our culture too and it shouldn’t be. As MLK stated, we should be more concerned about the content of their character. Because my people are suffering from colonialism and the self hate is sad. I East Indian and the Yashareliy marriages have worked to an extent. The reason I say Israel, because you guys are the descendants of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. I am from Elam mixed with Madai according to Bible. These marriages have worked to an extent like Xeres who is my ancestor married Ester who is your ancestor or Judah and Tamar. I’m carribean indo (grandma is East Indian, Hispanic, and white born in Jamaica) and multiracial and my husband is carribean indo and full East Indian he’s also born in Jamaica. His mom had a problem with me even though her husband is a full black man and very dark skinned it was odd. My experience has always been East Indians being against marrying black people. So I love to see this. In Jamaica it’s usually less of an issue but my mother in law was different I guess. Do most Indian people prefer to marry Caucasian/white if they marry outside their race?

I have a similar problem my boyfriend he is indo Caribbean he is from Trini and my family is also from the islands so I figured it wouldn't be a problem when I met his mom and she made it seem like she did not have a problem with it at first. But eventually she kept throwing microagressions at me I soon realized how anti black she was. She even said herself that Indian people prefer that their children date white people if they date outside of their race because they see it as a raise in class or something. I wish this wasn't a problem in the Indian community especially those that are from the Caribbean because all Caribbean cultures are very similar to each other. @@pahtrice5424 I’m so sorry to see this. Well actually we’ve been married now 18 years. However we had to cut her loose for several years because she was so toxic and it was affecting our children. We reconnected after 7 years in 2019 and she’s behaving better now. It was very difficult for the first 7-10 years. She had everyone in her family in Jamaica believing I was a black woman instead of multiracial. My grand uncle died in Jamaica and my mom and grandmother went to Bury him. They passed my family 3 times going to get them from the airport because they were expecting black Jamaicans. Then they saw my uncle who died and they kept saying he’s a white man he’s a white man. They are the epitome of ignorant. I didn’t realize this because I came from a very different caste system on my East Indian side/Caucasian side. They even used derogatory terms like the N word that I was taught not to use. If it was me I would find someone else. I mean we are only doing well now because we had to cut her and the family out of our lives for years til they would act right! It’s a whole lot of stress for nothing.

As a black woman dating, how can I make myself available or open to being approached by Indian men? I have been online dating but would there be any way to achieve this in-person as well? I did some research culturally and you and other have mentioned religion plays a role as well as the caste system, especially if they are lighter skinned Indians. They do no want a darker woman to darken the skin tone of their children. It’s never said but I feel like it has been implied by Indian friends that I have had in the past.

I know every situation is different and there are known factors that can present themselves as obstacles but thankfully we did not have many of those. We had Indian neighbors and my family are people of color, we all were called "black" in North Carolina when I was a child and upwards. Our cultures and religions can differ but the history of how we were treated as people is similar, in some cases it was the same. It is 2024, not much has changed in regard to how other lighter skin tone groups view our people groups with a good degree of melanin.

My friend dated 2 guys at 2 different times from India. Both said that they could not be seen with her, let alone marry her because she was Black. So she just stopped dating Indian men altogether. Sad. I have to share this video with her now. There's so much colorism in the U.S. and other parts of the world. But to see this...this is really cool. Thanks for this upload.

I have practice 5 religions including Hinduism and Islam settled on Islam. I would love to be with an Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese or Bangladesh man. But if THEIR family has an issue that sucks for them because I'm awesome I can speak some Hindi was learning Sanskrit and fluent in Spanish and English. Listen .. My wife and I have been married for over 18 years and I am African-American and she is Punjabi. Of course there were differences but we embrace that. I enjoy everything about her food clothing music language etc as well as she enjoys me. But absolutely we have had our share of comments mainly from her cultural people . But once people got to know me they were no longer fearful. However, comments are still made negatively about Black people.

I am Indian. The thing is its not just India. The marriage system in Asia is very complicated. There is a saying that in asia two people don't marry each other, its 2 or more families merging. I had females who loved me and still didn't went for me because they were asked to date or marry within their cast, religion, community or even state. Its very taxing on our mind. Furthermore the standards for groom and bride is very high. Unrealistic expectations. Asia struggles alot with customs and culture. Not saying west is better but just an asian dude explaining issues of asia. 🇮🇳❤️

I understand why you wanted your husband to make sure that his parents knew you were black because sadly it does make a difference in some cultures. I have a lot of Indian friends. The majority of them are open when accepting other races. Others are more traditional. I know a young man who is black and his girlfriend was Indian. My adivice realy think about it because you will be marrying a family. due to the brainwashing of colonialism of thinking white skin is beautiful, some indian parents of your future spouse will discriminate against you so be prepared. This Women actually have the same skin tone as you. The term Black is enforce on American born African. Most of this so Called Black , were descendent of African, that lives in America for four to five generations. But they were programmed to disown, their African root. In African Continent we have 2.5 Millions Indian, living in African Continent, many were brought by British to Work as laborers, even as Slave too. I had a good friend that was Tamil and she always called herself black. She was the color of Mindy Kaling. Other than in books, I had never met a person from India who referred to themselves as such AND I was dating a Indian man at the time who was very fair. In the end, I broke up with him and he married her!😊

What about "woman of color"? I understand Spanish but don't speak it so well. I had someone interpret for me once. I began my sentence with, "As a black woman..." My interpreter said, in Spanish, "As a woman of color..." I started to call her out but it wasn't worth it. "Negra" (or Negro for a man) is the word. Though I guess the word does not work well in English. She spoke English, too, so...
