My stepfather was an engineer, he designed and made machines that made plastic and mylar bags for different companies, I was up from Florida and helping him build a machine for Government to manufacture a machine to build a bag that had to be made by hand for the last 15 yrs. he was having a hard time getting the final process done, at 230 am he wakes me up to run down to the factory and help him put it together, he came up with the design in his sleep and by 9:30 we had the final assembly finished and working. he always could work it out when he was sleeping.

Always keep learning. As I know you will. We all do. You are very intelligent, Tate, my friend.

Thank you for your update. I think you solved more than one problem. The less budened you are with cares of extra curricular activities, the more time you'll have to clear your mind and zero in what matters and nail it.

if we were perfect with no flaws for improvement there wouldnt be need for mental contemplation/decision making, as everything would already be resolved, life would become boring with no challenges to think about- no growth..

Maybe you should bring back your "Limit Procrastination". Was any of your friends still up when you were first realizing you were stuck on? Perhaps you could have asked at that point. That was a great EUREKA moment there! Good job on those tests and passing them. Have you thought about just walking away and doing something else when you get stuck on something. That could help with problems like that long one. Just a thought.

You are coming into the phase now where each homework is harder than the previous and the unknown to catch you out appears. Oh the dreaded bucket problem, and the first thing that hits you is what size of bucket, what size is the hole and how much water is in the bucket to begin with and the temperature of the water. Wait till you get other variations and it starts driving you crazy and yes it is annoying but it is to teach you to think, adapt and also what happens in an unknown scenario and teaches you a valuable lesson *Do your homework early and don't wait till the last few hours before the deadline.* 😲 Congratulations on the other tests Tate and at least now you are able to see the funny side of things and not be upset when something doesn't go right as you expect. All part of you growing up, adapting and success doesn't come unless you fail at something first. Trust me you wouldn't be the first to keep a note pad by your bed and make notes through out the night. For me even now I I keep a small notepad with me as you can't take your phone everywhere and at anytime something pops into my head, it's written down. Worst time ever was during an exam and it throws everything and you drop your focus.

at least you know when you get a similar problem on an upcoming test, you’ll be able to complete it fast and accurate.

Do your assignments about 36 hours before they're due, and possibly, your sleep 'almost-dream' states ( letting go from stress ), will aid you for completion ! I hope that this may be of use to you !

You can always write a note next to the problem indicating that you know the answer is incorrect but you ran out of time to keep working it through. The TA may at least give you a few points for recognizing the answer is wrong as long as you are on the right track otherwise and just made a simple error.

To enhance his creativity, Thomas Edison would recline with a metal ball in his hand. As he drifted off to sleep, the ball would drop and awaken him, maintaining a state between wakefulness and sleep that was rich with fresh ideas.

surely with multiple guess questions you at least guess at one that looks possible rather than a negative when you know its positive. The curious idiot in me wants to know what the question was exactly as I think I have an idea of how to do it from the little you described. I feel it may have something to do with the rate at the halfway mark.

The assignment must be submitted by 11:59 pm, and you state that others in the same class have likely turned it in earlier in the day and "probably are in bed by now." This begs the question as to why you were doing this assignment so late & close to the midnight deadline? I can't help wondering if the Rocketry Club met that day, or some other extracurricular activity (or the gym or meal preparation) kept you from doing the work earlier in the day? When I was in college, I was certainly less sharp at 11:00 pm than I would have been at a more reasonable hour in the afternoon.

Tate, You where totally right depending on the temperature? Maybe it was in vaper form or frozen. From the Universal perspective it is most likely to be frozen then vaper then water. So from a statistical point of view you are correct. Unless they specified the temperature of the water. So you should inform him of this and see if he gives you any credit.
