The lid open button getting stuck is a common problem, thankfully it can be fix by being cleaned. Taking the button assembly apart fully and some warm soapy water will fix it right up. Also a very odd game that could be an interesting pickup is Darkened Skye. An RPG that has an main character collecting Skittles candies to use magic.

Congrats! As someone that grew up with it, the GameCube is so much fun. My favorite game is probably Phantasy Star Online (it can be played offline). I really like trying out the different characters and leveling them up and also hunting for the really rare items once you get to the harder difficulties. There is a lot of other good Sega games on the GameCube like the Sonic adventure games and the monkey ball series that I think you should check out.

nice to see theres still people enjoying the gamecube. now I feel kinda bad cause mine just sits in a box. also got the black edition + 2 original gamepads + RGB Scart-Cable + Gameboy Player (for my GBA cartridges). eternal darkness has a real spooky atmosphere - only finished it once (you have to do it 3 times to get the final final ending). metroid prime 1+2, mario kart double dash, resident evil 4 (MY FAVOURITE), resident evil zero (my first resi), smash brothers melee, viewtiful joe, buffy the vampire slayer: chaos bleeds (loved the show), Second Sight, P.N.0.3., .. great games 'n good times

makes me sad that the aftermarket prices have inflated so much, especially for people who didnt get to experience it. i hope you at least feel its worth it to enjoy these games. when i got my gamecube back in the day, i immediately had wind waker, mario sunshine, soul calibur 2 and luigis mansion. all of them are up there as huge favorites just in general.

i started to enjoy and collect gamecube games for 2 years now. My favorite is Metroid prime and i recently got fire emblem path of radiance. That console has a lot of charm to it

The Carby is one of the best solutions for HDMI output without modding the console. Another cool thing to get is a Gameboy Player, but they are quite expensive and if you don’t mod your Gamecube you have to buy one that has the disc but that raises the price significantly. The Pikmin games are nice first party games btw

I got my own Gamecube much later around the 2010s even though I've known about for a while. It's cool that you got one because it has a good library of games. It's also a good idea to have be part of your collection if you're into that hobby. I like collecting consoles and old retro gaming stuff so the Gamecube was in my radar.

congrats on the gamecube! I recommend trying out Lost Kingdoms, if you can find a copy of the first one for a reasonable price. Gameboy players were one of the few reasons I got a gamecube, but the unit and the disc that goes with it are so expensive. Good luck hunting!

Can’t go wrong with your wishlist. I’d also recommend Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes, Pikmin 1 & 2, Fire Emblem (if you can find a good deal), Star Fox Adventures, and Star Fox Assault.

The sticky buttons are common on gamecube. A couple of drops of isopropyl alcohol and push the buttons a few times and it'll go away.

You have a great wish list! Here are some games I think you would like: Pikmin 1 or 2 (I think 2 is a bit better because it doesn't put you on a time limit + more pikmin types). It's just a whimsical time where you can explore and collect things with your cute plant companions. Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door: A cute action rpg with a lot of character and love put into it. It really feels like it just captured the early 2000s gaming era and put it onto a disc. A lot of bright colors, low stress environments, and easy to pick up turn-based gameplay. Resident Evil 4: I know you said you haven't played a horror game, but this is one of the best games of all time (it's cheaper and better than Eternal Darkness in my opinion). I've played it on the Wii, xbox 360, and on ps4. It never gets old. You're a secret agent who has to save the president's daughter from terrorists who unleashed a biological weapon on a town of people turning them into zombies. One of the best third person shooters ever with a ton of weapon customization.

My cousin had a GameCube and a crash bandicoot game, I was so jealous of him since he was never really a Nintendo fan. To this day, I have no idea what happened to it. It’s either stuck in storage somewhere or my uncle sold it.

I had no idea back then the faceplate came off, I got that console as a Christmas present, the year it came out in the UK, my first game was StarFox Adventures. I have lots of Nintendo GameCube games. I do have Starfox Assault, I've noticed when playing there's a lot of unlockable Multiplayer content in that game. I've noticed a lot of Nintendo GameCube's games have been released again as Nintendo Switch Games.

An amazing console, I remember when my parents bought me one, I didn't really know the NGC existed because back then I wanted a ps2. But I really enjoyed GameCube playing Mario Kart Double Dash with my brothers.

If you like RPG's, you should get Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2, they've gotten pretty expensive but you might be able to snag a used one in decent condition for close to retail price.

i truly hope you can appreciate the gamecube controller for all sorts of jump and run games at the very least. Gotta admit i even play switch games on pc with this thing (only because i can't use it for the games i emulate on pc, on original hardware)

I was 5 or 6 when GameCube came out but I didn't get one till later down the road I remember wanting a ps2 for gta vice city but my mom didn't have much money so we got a brand new GameCube W/ ninja turtles, but no memory card so I couldn't save lol, the words GameCube games and inexpensive don't usually go together but I have endless love for Luigis mansion 1 if you haven't already played it on 3DS

Great stuff, you should definitely start with Mario Kart as a next game :d. I spend waaay to many hours on this game. If you know how to drift 3 times in a row, then you know what I am talking about ;D. Kirby Airride is still on my bucket list too, even thought the price is unaffordable nowadays I find. Some games comes down to if you want it that badly. I also highly recommend Zelda The Wind Waker. This game is made for the gamecube, because it is definitely THE game to get when you have a gamecube. :D Good luck in your next findings!

Every HDMI adapter works fine. They all use the same GCVideo open source software. Just get the cheapest. It's a digital signal so you should not have any problems with colors and degradation (which is common if you use analog cables for composite or component). Some models have a Wii-styled AV out that lets you use either HDMI or Wii Component cables if you want to plug into a CRT TV or an upscaler like a RetroTink. A straight Gamecube to HDMI adapter works fine for 97% of people.

The PS2 came out 1 year before the GameCube and Xbox... Not only that Sony was already monopolizing the game market since the release of the PS1 paying companies and blocking games from coming over to the Xbox and especially GameCube...The PS2 was on the market for 13 years that's it sold 155M units

You could buy metroid remastered and then buy metroid 2 on gamecube or just the trilogy complete for wii

My least favourite thing about the Wii gamecube thing is exactly what you said... this is why I am setting up my black gamecube right now! I am going SCART for my output! I actually have had my Gamecube since like 2007 I got it soooooo cheap 25 euros :o My lid is the same problem as yours too.. doesn't always stay down, I have only played one game on it Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes! But I also want to play Super Mario Sunshine and Zelda Windwaker tooo :D I got Eternal Darkness as well, I haven't played it either, though I hear the sanity stuff is best experienced on CRT :) Chibi-Robo is a good game to add to the list... buuuut sooooo expensive!

Ah. Your very own GameCube matches your hair, and eyes, and shirt. Oh. I thought it matched your hair. Well in any case, congratulations on your purchase proud Nintendo GameCube owner. Yeah! Two faces in one head. It's really nice to see the handle in use. I believe the Nintendo 64 is the most beautiful home console deck ever, although the PS5 must be in strong contention. And the GameCube is a baby to hug. I am under the belief that your romanticism of the GameCube is not wrong. Because while I am currently playing Super Mario 64, a true evergreen forever game, and it has been a spiritual experience. In my most recent session I absolutely loved swimming with a shark in Dire Dire Docks, and I think you would too. Swimming with the shark is more than just gameplay, it's an experience. The best way I can describe Super Mario 64 is the Tower of London (As seen on TV). Very boring and exciting at the same time, where every square inch is rich in history and discoveries to be made. A very rare breed, as most is one-and-done, but I am certain this is available on the GameCube.

The Gamecube was an Ok console for me, it was good, but I just loved way too much the PS2, I loved Twilight Princess to dead though, Eternal Darkness I read too much information about it that it ruined the experience for me.

You PROBABLY shouldn't continue depending on your taste. The market is horrible price wise depending . But if you're passionate then go ahead . And I say this as a fan of the console . I'd say get the expensive stuff on emulation
