guys!! i wanted to say thanks to you both i have been here for 2 years and many would say it's not that long but the time i have been watching you is REALLY important to me. i am 14yo, a young lesbian. my country prohibites lgbt+ in any way on goverment level. we have this office-holder that promotes hate for homosexual people, for people like me and you. i am not even mentioning the t part of the community... so i felt completely and utterly alone 2 years ago. i was unhappily in love with my sweetest bff and didnt know what to do. i thought she'd hate me. and i was scared that my mother would disown me. i was so so lost. i didnt know what to do. i thought i'd be in that state forever. and exactly when i embraced my love for women there was this news... i will try to be short with it. so there was and maybe is this woman in city saint-petersburg (our second cultural capital, so to speak) and she was responsible for keeping kids safe. so if a child ever feels like they're in danger they would come to her and explain the problem and she would deal with it. and some magazine or whatever interviewed her, asked: "so what is your plan on solving the problem with lgbt youth in our country", to which she responsed with: "i dont have a plan for there is no lgbt youth in our contry". honestly, i... i was so pissed off. so she claimed i wasnt real, wasnt here. according to her my identity was not a thing, was not authentic at all. i felt so so lonely and scared, and lost. didnt know what to do. and then i found you. two lovely people. charming women being together and being able to be happy with themselves. you laughed, you cried, you joked, you were being silly, yet so serious and genuine. you were so happy. and you are. girls, you are the representation i thought i'd never have. you showed me that i will be able to beat it all -- ignorance, homophibia, prejudices -- and be okay with the woman who i will choose and who will choose me. i could say you are brave but you are not, you are just doing what every person should do in their life, being the best you you can be. and for that, i say thank you. i wouldn't be here without you. know it. know that somewhere in wild and winter-y russia there is a no-longer-sad grisha who feels wholesome because of YOU. best regards, loves. russian youth is alive because of you and people like you. be happy and take care xx
