This was super useful. For my first project I went down the path of trying to build something with 2x4 posts and learned the hard way about unforgiving concrete floors are in terms of level. I’ve been getting so frustrated with how unlevel and out of square it is. This is great!

I went thru the same process and I’m happy with the solution. Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback!

New subscriber here -- definitely like how you raised the top on the sides giving some storage spaces as a lot of other approaches show building a drop area to site the saw. I'm copying this method because I already have a workbench in place. Nice doubling up on the plywood sheets. I recently removed a formica-covered countertop and was surprised that it was double layers of particleboard. The thing was solid as a rock!

@SpringRubber - thanks for subscribing!! The storage comes in handy for sure. I thought about making some friction fit drawers, nothing fancy, but honestly, it works fine as an open space. 2 sheets of plywood - yes, very solid! No regrets - appreciate the comment - Dennis

Hello Dennis! Absolutely simple and functional. Strong, cheap and easy to built (even for beginners like me). Greetings from Brazil.

Thanks Sergio! I love finally having a fixed station - it makes repeatable cuts so much easier!

I love the station, I’ll be trying to duplicate it for my garage soon. What dimensions were the speed braces you used?

Thanks!! I used the 21x24 SpeedBraces and I also used their PowerHead Wood screws 2-1/2" to screw the speed braces to the 2x4 wall studs - Dennis

Hey Dennis great build and video. Do you have links of the products you used? So I can check them out for my own build.

Sure! I used Speed Braces from FastCap to support the floating miter station. I used 21" x 24" size but you'll see that they have many sizes to choose from depending the depth of our miter station - here is the link - www.fastcap.com/product/speedbrace I also used the FastCap PowerHead wood screws to fasten the Speed Braces to 2x4 wall framing. Great screws with a nice large head that fits right into the grove cut into the Speed Braces. There are many options here - I used the #2 square driver type and a length of 2-1/2". Your needs may be different. Here is the link www.fastcap.com/product/powerhead-wood-screws And I used the Stealth Stop from WoodPeckers for the fence and stop system. I ordered the StealthStop 4' kit - Fence, Left and the StealthStop 4' kit - fence, Right. Hope that. helps, but let me know if you have any other questions. Dennis

Curious since it’s been a while since building your miter station if you are still happy with the design or if there are things you’d change or have changed?

HI Jackson! I absolutely love it! I never had a miter station and the ability to easily cut a piece of wood or multiple pieces using the stop makes things so much easier and a pleasure. I just made an obelisk where there were many repeatable cuts and it just made the job super easy. it's done everything I've needed it to do. I like just have the little 'cubby's' under the top platform and for me the fast cap braces work well since the floor was so out of level - so for now - I've never said 'jeez I wish I built this or that into the miter station' - so all good! Thanks for the inquiry.

Still have the Bauer miter saw, did it burn up or...?
@DIYwithDennis Жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, it’s still going strong at a little over 2 years - recently gave it to my nephew who is getting into woodworking.
