Yes, love the painted sheep, glad you researched genetics with the vet so Billy the Kid has a useful place in the operation, not that just being a wether pet is not sufficient

I think having little “pets” like a Billy really help to keep the humanity in farming and stops the farmer getting to a point where animals are treated like they’re only products. It’s something I notice between different dairy farmers.

I am SO THRILLED you decided to keep Billy the Kid and his sister!! They are absolutely the sweetest babies and oh if I only had the financial means to vacation with you some summer I totally would be there!!! You and your lambs bring me so much joy and put a smile on my face every time I watch!!!! I am currently off work for the next 6 weeks minimum to heal after major surgery. I had to have 3 discs in my neck removed, bone spacers put in and a rod to keep the space open. I am only beginning week 2 of being off work. Lol! So as you can imagine I am going crazy not being able to move around a whole lot!!! You and your 🐑 keep me so thankful and just so happy!!! Please continue doing what you do!!! It is so worth it!!!

They are all so sweet. Painted, white faced, coco creamed face. Love them all. I prepped our lambing kit onm Monday, we are month and a week out from ours starting. But I know we will always start before due date. Uncle got barn pretty much ready. Colostrum and replacement formula, bottles set and ready.

My favorite lambs and sheep in general are the ones with some color on them. I love seeing the color patterns and what makes them more unique from just the white sheep.

I know cow ranchers use "heifer bulls" for the heifers who've never calved before. They use heifer bulls because they're known to throw smaller stock. Do you think you'd have better lambing with first-time ewes if you were to use rams that throw smaller lambs? I know you said the amount of feed the ewes get also has an affect on how big the babies grow in the womb, but I'm curious if you think using smaller rams for first-time ewes would help?
