Welcome to the club. I purchased my first pin 6 years ago after making 1 year cancer free. It was more of a why wait when you never know what your future holds. I got an old, broken Gottlieb Monte Carlo. When I say broken, you couldn't even play it. But I knew that as I wanted to know how to work on it and fix it. I got it working 100% and sold it. Now 6 years later I have 7 pins, 1 Vpin and next year going to most likely buy my first brand new pin. It's a great hobby!

@@RetroRalph Lets see my wife got me my second A1UP Partycade Defender three weeks ago then I picked up a San Fran Rush 2049 Special Edition two weeks ago just in time for the family to come to Houston for Thanksgiving so my kids and grandkids had a blast. Im up to 15 machines mostly full size with 3 bartops and looking at two other full size for purchase and going to build six full size machines in December. Im blowing and Going!

I was so scared when I got my first pin in January that it would just sit there after a few weeks. What I have found out is these new pinball machines have so much replay ability than even a multi- Cade. It’s a perfect combination of arcade nostalgia combined with new playing experience.

Always liked me some pinball! I worked nights at a laundromat and they had the original Star Wars by Stern and Kiss pinball. I played both of them quite a bit and rediscovered that pinball was always fun, and will always be fun lol. I wanted to get one but then i noticed how much the maintenance dude was in to fix the tables... just about every week lol.

what type of maintenance is required for pinball ? I've always been afraid of spending all the money on a pinball then if its breaks and have no clue how to fix it.

It's not that bad. Low home use means very few if any major repairs.

In my experience it depends on the machine and it's age. I had a Judge Dredd that broke all the time and Close Encounters and Silverball Mania that never had a problem. They are costly to get fixed and the new ones are much different than the solid states

No problems with my new sterns. I’ve owned some pins pre 2000 and always had problems with them. If you’re not handy I wouldn’t recommend the pins made pre 2000, stick to the newer ones.

@@flpennstater305 Absolutely but I would say that minor things happen much more often than major issues and KZbin or Pinside members can walk you through an awful lot things. I'm not handy at all and I have done all but one of my own repairs.

Congratulations on this one! The arcade I frequent has this and several other pins. They somehow leave them all on free play and get heavy use. I can't imagine their maintenance costs! They always buy the pro versions which has spoiled me. My wife wants the Star Wars pinball. We may get it for her down the line.

I had actually pre-ordered this machine a few months ago but recently cancelled it and asked to get the new Jurassic Park home Pin instead, which although probably not quite as good, is a bit more suitable for me (I have been collecting home pinball machines for years, mostly 2/3 and 3/4 sized ones). I bought my first pin (Heavy Metal) in March 2021. I now have 20 of them. They are crazy amazing. The first thing you MUST do is add a subwoofer. (Polk Audio PSW10's are perfect and affordable).

I remember starting with 1 arcade machine and now I have 22. I started out with one pinball machine also, and now I have 9. Nice thing about pinball is if you take good care of it you can always sell it for around what you paid for and get another one when you tire of it. Good call getting a more modern pin. They have way better re-play value then the early SS games. I have Gorgar and a Xenon but I barely play them.

I can’t tell you how many people say that 1 will multiply really quickly. I can see how though, there’s so much replay and variety in the gameplay. It’s always different and I think that’s what makes it so fun!

I’ve had jurassic for about a year now I will say the game is a bit brutal but I think that’s what makes me keep coming back to it, you gotta get raptor tri ball and light chaos while in raptor multiball and it just launches all the balls out at once!
