I was planning on just making a tutorial for the new Lofty figure. And after nearly completing the video, I found out that almost everyone was more interested in the old Lofty figure! So I went back and added him to the video. I still feel the new figure is much better. It’s more to scale with Lego and Mega Construx figures, and it has a simpler and cleaner look. But that’s just my opinion. Thank you all for your support and kind comments! You’re the best!!

I originally used clay. But sticky tack is cheap and useful for a lot of other aspects of Stop Motion.
@PinkPokemon5745 ай бұрын
Personally I think that the old figure looks more stylised and cooler, despite how unconventional it is for stop motion. It is also neat to finally see the figures that you made being used in a recent video.

I understand the whole custom figure animating pain, after I had seen yours for the first time I decided to make on for myself and now, after seeing this video i realized a couple things, first of all I built the whole limb system wrong, and second of course was how hard it was to animate. Maybe I'll try building it the "right" way...we'll see

i love this tutorial, and i really like the design of the hips for the first figure you showed, i never thought of doing it that way. one thing i would actually recommend that could make it a lot easier to make the figures, and make the limbs less frigile, is using premade paper straws for the interior. they're much stronger than rolling a paper tube yourself and have the same dimensions basically

Instead of paper tubes you could used polystyrene plastic tubing. Same stuff model trains and some gunpla are made of. Easy to cut with a utility knife, relatively durable for what you're doing, and affordable. You'll just need a plastic cement (adhesive) if you wanna bind plastic to plastic, but that stuff is near instantaneous in bonding so it's worth it. Important FYI: plastic cement will evaporate quickly if you leave the cap off for too long and it can produce noxious fumes.

I tried making a custom figure that uses the same way as the mini lofty or whatever he is called by only having pipe cleaners and i didn't have cardboard so i just used paper. that figure was great but it only flaw was it refused to stand up properly i put lego on hes feet so that he stands but he his torso just falls making him look like he's tired. unfortunately my cat destroyed it and i saved up the pipe cleaners ill try to make the torso your way while still not using cardboard cause i don't have cardboard.
