So I bought this 1989 Yamaha FZR600 Genesis a few weeks ago. I actually traded another bike for it. The guy I got it from used to track it quite a bit, so it has some pretty cool things done to it, like, 94 YZF600 front forks, brakes, rear swing arm and wheels. Also put on a Techno Flex rear shock. It hasn't been started in over 4 years so I didn't know what to expect. he also gave me a 1994 Yamaha YZF600 parts bike to sweeten the deal. Not sure what we are gonna do with that just yet, but we'll see what happens.
We are also introducing Gabriel. He'll be joining me in most of the videos in the future. He actually owns the motorcycle dealership that we filmed this episode in, so if you like any of the bikes you saw, you can contact him at Geelong Motorcycle Centre. They also ship Australia wide. Go check them out.

Here I was, randomly looking at FZR600 videos, reminiscing about when I was young and cool (I owned a 91 model), and there's two Aussie guys fixing one up. Then they take it for a ride and "hold on a minute, I know that street". Dead set, it's 2 minutes from where I used to live (along with the FZR), in Bell Park. What are the odds?

Congratulations on getting your new bike to start. Happy to hear it was a relatively easy/cost efficient fix. I really enjoyed your street triple videos, what a great looking bike. All the best to you mate 👍

Thank you very much. Don't worry, I still have the Street Triple. There will be more videos on that in the near future.

Well done on getting the bike going and it seems run ok. You've got a lot of space in that building, why isn't there a work bench? Or do you do all your rebuilds sitting on the ground? Just curious.

It'll hopefully sound better when the other pipe goes back on it. I'll put up another video when that's on.

Yeah. Once the carbs were cleaned properly, it ran fine.

@@onecolektiv I just got a 97 fzr and having a hard time getting it to turn run as well. I replaced the stator because the battery kept dying. I got the bike running before a few times but I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s cold or if there is another issue. Also not sure where the choke is.

Could you help?

If I can remember correctly, the choke is on the left-hand side of the bike in the fairing. The usual suspects of a bike not starting are either fuel or spark. If you've had it running before, I would assume the carburettor jets may be blocked slightly. I'd clean the carbs, maybe even rebuild them. Put some fresh fuel in, and see how that goes. If not, maybe change the plugs and check the ignition system. Anything more than that, I would take it to a mechanic, as it may be a tuning issue or something more difficult. Hope that helps.

@@onecolektiv thank you. Would I have to sync the carbs and is that something anyone can do?

My eyes hurts badly after seeing that ugly and HUGE license plate...aren´t there any smaller ones suitable for motorcycles over there?
