@@Godspliff audio distortion that happens when an audio signal exceeds a system's capabilities. Set your gain so that you're hitting about -12db when you talk at normal volume. Fr though, your audio is really hard to listen to as it is. Also, you desperately need a pop filter.

Sound is pretty good out of the box, though a bit boomy for me, but the EQ sorted it out and they sound great, much better than my XM3s. I also watched/listened to a video by a sound engineer who set up a true comparison between various headphones, and the XM5s were the best, even noticeably better than the Apple iPods, which lacked depth and sounded bright. An easy upgrade, especially at discount prices now available. That 'cable' is needed for anyone who uses headphones to watch movies on a plane, which is also when noise cancellation is great; the XM5s are great all rounders.

Sony has great comfort nd feature, but definitely not the sound. No matter how much you EQ them they will merely sound OK at best. And saying they belong in the high end audio segment is with all due respect a joke. High end audio BT would be something like Mark Levinson 5909, FOCAL Bathys, B&O H95. The premium BT headphones for actual SOUND Quality which are similar in price would be Sennheiser momentum 3 or 4, and the Bowers Wilkins PX7 S2E.

well, they actually sucks, i was using them in store once and they are so fucking muddy compared to normal sounding headphones like hd600 or smth, also they are really *boomy*... anc is great but sound is misleading, and you cant really fix it in their eq

It isn't though and i see that you're testing it out on iPhone which means it's on AAC BT Codec and it means you don't know jack $hit about audio to begin with, Then again with LDAC and highest end musics from Qobuz or Tidal they still sound mid to Momentum 4 which are so much better in that price range in AUDIO but anc not so much. Sennheiser takes all the crown till 500$ range and after that it's Focal Bathys and H95 Beoplay. And for 1000$+ it's ATH-WB2022. Airpods Max, XM5 and Beats are the most generic headphones in this space and all the youtubers are braindead to recommend em. everything else is literally better than those. even something like Soundcores.
