Hello 😊💕 Nice to see you. As you were talking, I couldn't help but admire the vanda bed behind you, the colours are absolutely stunning🤩. That's a beautiful haul of orchids you bought. Dendrobiums seem to do well with me, I would definitely get some more before Christmas. I love how yours have the tag and photo attached to it. I'm still trying with the cattleyas, they continue to be a challenge for me, I think I will try mounting more of them too. I would love to get some tolumnias. Always enjoy watching your videos. Warm greetings from TnT 😎🌴☀️🤗💕

Hello Nicole, it's really great hearing from you. 🤗. Lol. I know right! Those orchids in the backdrop are constantly blooming. Thanks for noticing, not many persons commented on that. 😍 Oh how great that the Dens does well with you. I find them to be easy to grow and care for as well. Most of the orchids that are imported into the Island tend to be tagged, the problem is the tags really don't last and so we loose them. I'm making an effort though to re tag all my newly purchased plants before I loose the original tags. You could perhaps order orchids online if that is allowed in your country to get some of the rare ones. You could team up with a few persons to make it practical. Thanks as always for stopping by and one love from Jamaica. 🥂💖😎

Teehee😀.. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, you know exactly the thing. Lol. I console myself by saying that I'm not too much of a party goer nor do I imbibe, and so we can be okay with this addiction. 🤦♀️. They usually post the sales on Instagram and so you may have to follow Evergrow and H & L on that platform. You could also sign up for the H & L loyalty card and you will get alerts on the mobile phone. Thanks for checking in Marcia, you just know how the thing goes. We just can't help ourselves. 😁😉👌

Hello Tyneth, I'm so glad you are loving my collection. I purchase most of my clay pots in Mandeville from a gentleman who actually makes them. There is also a gentleman in Kingston who I buy from as well. He sells by Norbrook Road on a Saturday.

Good afternoon doc from Naples, Fl. Loved your orchid haul and can’t wait to see them bloom. You got a great variety. I have a question about the molasses and MSG recipe. Can I apply the mixture to all my orchids not just the vandas? I grow my like you do outside. Thanks in advance for all your tips and wisdom. God Bless
@growingorchidsinjamaica2 жыл бұрын
Hello Mercy, good to have you visiting from Naples. Yes I loved the selections and I'm so looking forward to seeing them bloom. The Molasses and MSG can be used on other orchids as well. Remember I use it specifically to inspire roots and so I mainly use it on newly potted plants. So happy to share my experience with you. One love from Jamaica 💖🥂👌

That's a very nice haul you got from the show. If you are bothered about clearing any kind of bugs from your new purchases the cheapest quickest and best way is to use....and it's harmless to your plants ...... is simple household bleach. Give them a soak in a strong solution for 10minutes or so and then give them a good rinsing with fresh water....easy and it works. I only have the Cattleya loog tone which flowers with multiple blooms every year .......you might like the full correct name of the plant and it is Cattleya Loog Tone "African Beauty". I agree with you about taking them off the mounts and re-potting them. Thank you for the video and take care, Ed.
@growingorchidsinjamaica2 жыл бұрын
Hello there Ed, it is so nice of you to stop by. I thank you so much for your suggestion. I know you can use a little household bleach but didn't know that a strong solution would not harm them. I will definitely try it. Also I have some plants that are covered with a lot of algal growth and I really don't like to see them. That I'm sure will clean them up. What proportion of bleach to what volume of water would you suggest? I appreciate you giving me the full name for the Cattleya loog tone I will re tag it. So happy you stopped by and I really appreciate your comments. One love from Jamaica. 💖🥂

@@growingorchidsinjamaica You can use a very strong solution even a full bottle in 2 gallons of water.....a good rinsing afterwards is the most important factor.....take care, Ed

Hi Orchid Doc. I forgot to ask about the mixture of MSG solution. Can you give us the recipe and do we soak the entire plant in the solution and for how long. Also the 20-20 solution.. Thank you.
@growingorchidsinjamaica2 жыл бұрын
Hello Marcia, I use 2 teaspoon MSG and 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water. I usually soak the root area of the plant for about an hour or so. The 20-20-20 is a teaspoon to the gallon and whichever fungicide of your choice. I hope that helps. One love. 🥂💖

Lovely haul Doc. How soon do you introduce the dendrobium or sun vanda to direct sunlight?
@growingorchidsinjamaica2 жыл бұрын
Hello Andrea, thank you so much. I usually wait until they have sufficient roots which sometimes takes up to a year, then I gradually introduce it to full sun. I'll perhaps do a video on that. 👌
