I test drove one today and loved it. I would never believe its weight is about equal to my X5M. It’s fine for a fast street car,and nobody uses these on track anyway so everyone complaining about weight is just BS. It had to be a hybrid to exist because of over regulation. Be happy it exists.

If nobody uses the m5 on track so why does bmw make the CS version which is heavily tuned for track driving? Are they carzy?! If the point of M5 is just to be a (LuXUrY crUIsEr) what’s the point of the 7 series? There is no excuse that this car is a downgrade otherwise a guy like you must just drive the X5M or that kind of BS.

@ Don’t shoot the messenger. BMW is doing what it can to appease regulators is my main point. There wouldn’t be a V8 M5 anymore without it being a heavy hybrid.

@@borghorsa1902 Yes I have a 2024 X5M bought it from BMW DesMoines last year. The auto start stop over ride that I use is I push the M1 button right away after starting and my engine sport settings turn it off.

I don’t hate the design and never have but the interior is hideous! So much cheap plastic everywhere and an ugly design. Believe me, I’ve been in the new 5-Series as well as the outgoing model and the old interior is so much better. Honestly the new 5-Series has a worse interior than the new Skoda Superb and VW Passat, yet it costs 2x more.

It’s looking great and I love the design. Especially what you criticized at the read door is very appealing to me to be honest. This read fender is massive and it looks great. I prefer a the touring though because of more space…

Always love your reviews and sketching...keep it up! I know typically the bmw design language is one that takes getting used to and this is no different. I still feel the f90 m5 lci is a better looking executive ///M sleeper. I wish they had given this car the wide horizontal slats like the front grill of the 24' X5M...Not a fan of the rear diffuser and how bulky this car looks. It's lines are not reflective of the front...headlights are small for the body...lit grill is not needed...m5 badging on hofmeister kink also not necessary. The interior is definitely modern, clean and a nice place to be.

This looks like a modernization of the Bangle era design. But in stark contrast, there is no cohesion in this design. The front is ok but it falls apart as you move to the rear. And the interior is even worse.

This design has no class, no decency, no honesty and no heritage. It makes a Makita Cordless Drill look like a timeless Rolex. How the light hits the side at 08:07 min for example makes it look dented. The paint on the rear bumper even looks mismatched in that same shot, because the angles change along the seam from plastic to metal. I don't get the underutilized Kidney Grills in the presence of two huge square holes right underneath them. If BMW Designers had bal... courage they'd have made 2 perfectly square kidneys and close one off for the radar, the whole car would've had to look different, but its not like they didn't make it work in the e36 prefacelift for example. Also i don't understand why they gave it a widebody. Granted, it looks better with the widebody, but no M5 proir to this needed to sell the "M" this hard. It seems like they forgot, what the M5s purpose is. One more thing i am really annoyed by is that the headlights are more prevalent on the side of the than the front. Practically all manufacturers are doing their lights like this since the 2010s, and i'm sad that chevrolet did the same thing to the tail lights on the c8 corvette. Just looks fake, no corvette ever had tail lights on the side, what was GM thinking!? There is so much potential in the lights to stand out of the crowd nowadays if you just keep them on the front/back. Maybe then you'd need some extra indicators for side visibility, i don't know the rules, but it's not like they cared for front license plates either. This is the most dated design BMW has ever created. This design will look nice enough just long enough til a new one comes out. from an engineerig standpoint it still doesn't make any sense why it has to be so tall. A Model S isn't this tall, an Audi RS E-Tron isn't this tall, they all have large batteries in the floor, why couldn't they figure it out. Makes me cringe being German. IMHO this M5 should've been fully electric especially, if it comes out as compromised as it is. .....and it's heavy af. Just rolling around town this will be the loudest electrically driven car. Why have the V8 if all you'll hear is tire noise, thank god they engineered fake engine noise in the cabin, very emotional.
