My externship was delayed over a year. They were severely behind because nobody was willing to take students due to Covid cases. I finally start my externship November 14! I am a little nervous but looking forward to ending this chapter.

I’m doing my externship next Wednesday. Ours was set back two months. Class was finished in June but finally got my dates in early September. I’m a bit nervous but hoping for the best🤞🏼

Thank you. Waiting my my externship as well. It was supposed to start this next week, but the hospital has not emailed the items I was supposed to complete(like a welcome package), so it may be delayed. But our school tries to have at least one practice a week. with the past students waiting for externship. I'm so excited about the externship and hope to get hired at a hospital.

Do you learn new things during your externship? Did they train you a bit?

I was the only phlebotomist at my externship site. All the staff were either doctors or nurses so they were somewhat unclear on what they could train me on besides blood draws. Other than drawing blood I helped direct patients, restock supplies, and cleaned. Still, I thought the experience was valuable. & I was able to use the nurses I made connections with as references applying for jobs.

my externship is in 2 days and it was pushed back by 5 months, my class was in february. i finished all my pokes before my externship just because people were already telling me during the externship you don’t get a lot of pokes, im honestly terrified for my externship but praying it goes well. your video was super helpful! 🤍

How can I get an externship as phlebotomy?. I got my phlebotomy license a month ago but every time that I apply to a medical center they tell me that I need a least one year of experience😢.

@@darielarondon1629 if you already have your license you won’t need an externship. In california where I am you need an externship done before you can receive your license. In your situation you just need to find a place that hires people with no experience, so you can get your experience and then when you want to move higher you can apply at places that require more experience.
