57:29 Fun fact: Dog Residue is a built-in infinite money generator in Undertale. Toby (the annoying white dog) felt bad taking the legendary artifact away from you, so he left behind some infinitely replicating dog residue in your pockets. These dog residues can be sold at merchants (specifically, Temmie's) for Gs. Some replications can even output Dog Salads which sell for more and can heal you if used in battle (for whatever reason). This is probably implemented so players don't have to grind eternally for cash to use at the shops.

Hi Floydson, reading the comments and your response, I do just want to echo that I am happy that you got to play the game blind and on your terms. It's an intended way to play the game and I don't ever understand holding it against people who're just exploring it. Now that you've done a Neutral run, I do recommend the two other routes though, as they contain a lot of story that I at least find fairly fun and fascinating. Obviously if that's not in your interest, then completely fair, just trying to say what my opinion is, without "Demanding" that you adhere to it.

It's pretty interesting seeing an Undertale playthrough from someone who basically knows nothing about it. Everyone I see playing UT is either pressured into pacifist for their first playthrough or does genocide out of spite for the part of the fanbase that pressures them into doing pacifist. So seeing a first playthrough being a violent neutral run is a fresh perspective for me. Probably the way it's intended to be played too.
@DarkDragon18899 ай бұрын
I mean...I DO get the reason why the fandom freaks out when people go full genocidal on their **first** playthrough because you will unknowingly lock yourself out of the true pacifist experience, but the way they went about it made them one of the MOST HATED fandoms since Star Wars. The sad thing though? Them forcing people to play the game that way robs them of that moment when you realize that this game is a moral test rather than a typical RPG, which is the reason UT is so beloved to begin with. For me; I restarted after killing Toriel in my initial blind playthrough because I thought she was decieving me like Flowey did. I felt guilty when I realized that she was LEGITIMATELY being sweet and motherly. Stopped where I was and did a full reset. When I got to the end of her area again after sparing her, Flowey straight up says something along the lines of "you think you can just start over and think that makes you a good person? You and I will **NEVER** forget what you did." and my mind was **completely blown**. I naturally went full pacifist afterwards because of how guilty I felt. You CAN'T HAVE that unique experience if you are forced to/spoiled by the fandom to do pacifist first. Thankfully, they seem to have calmed down over the years, which is better for people like Floyd who are just dipping their toes into the series.
@OtterSpace9759 ай бұрын
Yo, that's the way I played it the first time. I killed all the small enemies in the ruins, and Toriel, and many of the snow area enemies, but Papyrus was the first enemy I spared.
@HabitualThinker9 ай бұрын
How people feel doing the hardest and objectively worst version of the game because people told them that they should spare things, (it makes the game objectively better because you get to experience more of it) also no, it’s pretty obviously intended to be played pacifist.
@OtterSpace9759 ай бұрын
@@HabitualThinker Intended? Maybe. Expected? Absolutely not. The expected route is violent neutral, ecspecially considering it has the least amount of content, and you would expect people familiar with RPG mechanics would attempt to fight things, but eventually feel bad when you see the effect your actions are having. Then you do a pacifist run to get the good ending. Then you do a full genocide just to see what happens. That's likely what's expected.
@BecciTK9 ай бұрын
I agree. One of my favorite Let's Plays comes from a small German KZbinr who went into it fully blind. The guilt of accidentally killing Toriel haunted him until the final boss in his first playthrough. You don't get moments like these in spoiled Let's Plays were people either try to please or spite the loud fans.
@HydraGenisys9 ай бұрын
There are 2 more routes, Pacifist where you dont kill ANYTHING (even asgore you have to spare him at the end) and GENOCIDE where you kill in EVERY area until it says "but nobody came"
@FloydsonYT9 ай бұрын
so since I played the game I allowed myself to look into it a little and I've seen a lot about the pacifist run - and there appears to be a fair bit more content when you take that route... and that's when I realised I was gonna get in trouble when I posted my ridiculous playthrough haha. Didn't know that's how a genocidal route works though, that's intense!

Undertale is one of those games that can be played in so many ways so in all honestly I think your way of making videos was probably the best way to avoid spoilers or be pushed into playing a certain way... I know a lot of comments are gonna be mad you didn't go full pacifist on your first play-through, but I actually want to commend you for playing the game as it's meant to be. The replay value of Undertale comes from having your expectations subverted; by going in with typical gamer expectations and not knowing everything, you're able to experience the reveal of EXP and LV as intended. Then you're able to come back and try the pacifist route if you want, with the knowledge that this world doesn't operate the way you assumed it did allowing you to look at everything through a new lens. I also played Undertale with a neutral route first, and honestly, I think it got me a lot more invested in the world than I would have been otherwise. You have to invest in a gimmick for it to work. Also... this opens the possibility of a Floydson 100% Pacifist video, which I am deeply amenable to XD you probably know that the game does some meta-stuff with subsequent runs, so it wouldn't even be too repetitive!

Loved this playthrough! a real blind experience where a lot of the game's more impactful moments actually get to land because of the choices you made as opposed to doing what 'should' be done. Neutral routes are super underrated in terms of content (I could probably count the amount of times I've seen Undyne or Mettaton's neutral death dialogue on one hand. combined.) and I don't think I've ever seen someone get the King Papyrus version of the Neutral ending (you probably know by now the dialogue changes depending on who lives and dies) unless they were specifically aiming for it. A lot of folks are passionate about the Pacifist route and the game does nudge you that way with more content to be found, but I feel like it works better when it's a choice you make - 'what would happen if I tried really hard to end this fight peacefully this time?' 'Did this character have more to them than I initially thought?' if you chose to play any other routes in future they'd probably be more interesting for you that way, but at the same time, the twists and turns all through this video feel like you had a pretty satisfying experience from the get go, as opposed to 'aw man now i HAVE to play it Properly'. This is a rambling comment just to say this video was great and hopefully you don't feel too In Trouble for having such a unique first experience of Undertale. thanks for sharing it!

Little lore explanation according to game theory: Human souls are strong because of their emotions, as you can see with the other human souls that asgore already has, each soul represents an emotion/feeling. Your soul is determination, thats why when you die it says stay determined. There is only 1 Monster that has a soul that can have determination. And that was undyne, fighting her, adn her permanently respawning is the same the mosnters feel fighting you xD But her body wasnt able to handle the soul power of determination, thats why she liquified mid fight, her soul was strong but the body couldnt handle it

Watching you kill the first frog : 'oh no'. But more seriously, I think the game is intended to be completed first with a neutral ending. People in comments will freak out about it, because chances are if a youtuber finishes the game in neutral, they will just stop there and never gets to experience the other endings, especially the pacifist ending ( the genocide route is very interesting, but it's also A LOT of grinding and incredibly hard boss battles, so it really depends on the player if they want to push themselves through it ). I'd love to see another video with the pacifist ending of course, but I at least hope you play it on your end :) Undertale is one of the few games that honestly changed my life.
