You can kind of disregard most of the time it was out/current/popular/played, because during most of the game's life you had a handful or so of teams seen at events and no real easy way to share information about the game in forms easily digested (It's a LOT easier to see tech through a video clip than a text only and maybe 240p image on a forum). By the time KZbin/video streaming really became a thing in the mid-ish to later 00s, this game was already on its way out and not too long after Marvel 3 released. Even during that window, the meta teams were so engrained in the culture of the game (very few top tier players could/can actually play the game at top tier, they play the teams at top level for sure, but not the roster like Justin) and even with early 240p KZbin, people didn't have ways to capture and upload (phone video was beyond potato clips, so you had to have a mini-dv cam or something to then rip to a computer via firewire).

Watching this video reminds me that MvC2, prior to the establishment of the top tier characters and teams, was actually rather a creative game, and that was where a lot of the fun came from. I like watching all the videos, even the dueling Storms, etc, but it really is much more fun at this point when we can leave Magneto and Sentinel on the sidelines!

On Fightcade there USED to be tournaments that ranked each character on a point system, and a character like Magneto would make it so you had to choose low tier characters for your remaining two. Would love to see something like that implemented as a feature for online play.

He's not at all easy. Those Plasma Series combos are really hard to pull off on a real match and leave him open for punishment (as you could see). They do lots of damage though, if you can land them that is.

I stopped following MvC2 years ago when the god tier solidified to the point where every serious match was with the same 3 or 4 teams. But players like you, Romneto, Khaos, Anakaris Curse, jmcrofts etc. are showing that there's SO MUCH fun to be had with low and mid-tier characters.

I also used to play Hulk Spiderman and maybe like Captain America with his double air jump and QCB dash through move. Hulk is surprisingly fast and can make a lot of nearly full screen pressure. does the dude even know Spiderman has a web sling to grab people? 9:29 that air grab slam into launcher was sexy. 11:19 That web swing into combi launcher was slick as hell.
