Realm of the mad god, also a permadeath game, has a great tutorial that gives you a no risk taste of the game. I think something similar would work great in DaD as your first introduction to the game before you even see the merchants.

I have over 3k hours in Realm of the Mad God, but have quit playing since around a year or two ago. The devs, Deca Gaming make a lot of questionable decisions when it comes to the game, not to mention content is pretty sparse. It would be cool to see Soapy give it a try, but man it would be weird to watch for sure. Wild to see someone else mention RotMG, never see anyone talk about it lol

@jusbussin yeah, i havent played in a long time but the game is near to my heart. I often think that DaD is just 3D RotMG (even though gameplay is very different) lol. I got my knight 8/8 with full oryx set, and i was content. Havent really played since. But yeah, the tutorial would be perfect for DaD. Make a small, stand-alone goblin caves map that teaches us to avoid traps and fight multiple enemies. Have everything deal 0 dmg. Teach us about healing, and then have us fight a fake little boss before extracting. Short sweet intro that teaches the basics as soon you create your first character. And then have it be replayable at any time via the squire.

not all of the dmg is true only what you have added as true dmg is true so if you have 14 your doing 14 true for example it doesnt scale with pysh dmg like add pysh dmg does which is why youd usually use add pysh dmg if your building strength for just more raw dps overall the only time i bould true is when i use a high dex surv bow build

If you die you lose the gear on you and in your inventory. However, you can build up gear in your stash which persists through runs whether you live or die.

bro the 197 is in melee range, you know there is crazy damage falloff, right? Also, it's not like it does't require tremendous skill to hit with AWP in D&D, even more skill than in CS because you have to account for ballistics. Sorry bruh but swinging a falchion is just so much easier.

Who tf actually plays that way. I've seen rangers with a lot of traps but they don't fucking camp a room they put it down at a door to buy time and to prevent people from sneaking up on them. Plus, if you want, you can just not go in that area there being a rat. They want people to come to them, so just don't come or make them over push you. This ain't csgo or cod it isn't advantageous to stay in one room

going to have to disagree with you about the game showing the player how things work. the reason so many games in the last 10-20 years are so bland is because they handhold too much and dont leave anything for players to discover. the wiki meta for most games is also no bueno. ive found i enjoy games much more when i do whats called a "blind playthrough" today. this was the way games were always played before the age of youtube/wikipedia. think about your first experience with dark and darker. would it have been so great if you had watched youtube guides or tutorials on all the enemies beforehand? mine wouldnt have been good enough to remember at all.

It isn't HOWEVER the dopamine hits are insanely satisfying when you do well. It's free on steam if you want to check it out. Keep in mind EVERYONE that plays this game sucks when they first try it. It'll take you about 20 games before you extract for the first time
