At Sam Houston jones park did you go through the gate entrance or what’s call entrance station? I looked it up on the internet and they have different times. Entrance station opens @ 8a and gate opens @ 6a.

I have been going there for years I'm not aware of a 2nd entrance. The entrance I use is at a gate that is never closed. You go through the entrance show the attendant your ID military get a day pass for free. I think everyone else pays a dollar or 2 for a day pass. RVer's check in there as well.

Okay thanks. I was reading on their website and they had two different entrances and time frame and that’s why I asked. I’d wanted to go through the one that opened at 6a bc I like to be on the water early!! The entrance they say opens at 8 I didn’t want bc that’s just too late for me lol!!

If you want to catch more of them mullets make you up some mullet chum and you can sit there and catch them all day
