I fixed a broken Cesca chair || Marcel Breuer & modernism

In today's video, I invite you to join me on an emotional rollercoaster (lol) as I attempt upcycling this broken Cesca chair. Although it didn't come out "perfect", I'm very happy with the result 😊

Hey , so happy to find your video , I will repair mine , but I m desapointed, the chrome on the feet is gone . Do you think it’s possible to apply a chrome bomb paint? I tried everything… thank you so much

Thank you sm! Hmm is it rusty?? I must admit i don't have much experience restoring rusty chrome, but I googled now and there's quite a few articles recommending solutions. I think you'll be more happy with the result if you try to remove the rust, rather than painting over it. I would take a picture and go to your local hardware store and ask for advise. Good luck!

how can I fix the base, the legs ? They have been disassebled to each other and I struggle to sit on the chair.

Heyy, I’m sorry but I don’t have much experience with that unfortunately. Sounds like they might need to be welded, but I’d recommend taking a picture to your local hardware store and ask if they have any advice. They often know what tools you’ll need and can probably give you a better answer than I can 😅

I bought the materials second hand so I’m not too sure, unfortunately :(( but it looked similar in size as the groove, so you could probably use that for reference. Good luck!

Yes, I think so! But make sure the seat is intact, if the rattan is a bit loose, they’re not all that comfortable unfortunately. If you can get your hands on the ones with arm rests, they’re super comfy - I only have one of those, but I love them all the same 🥰

What is the actual name of the "little wooden thing" you try to fix ?

Im not too sure tbh, but might be one of the following; rattan core round cane, sometimes called “wicker” or cane/wood splain 🤔 assuming you mean the wood thing that keeps the cane webbing down?

You can easily buy both the seat and back parts on line and just screw them in a viola new chair

That was the completely wrong adhesive. You should have used wood glue.
