I have been dealing with this passenger airbag light since I last commented several years ago. Today it stayed on even when no one was in the passenger seat, so I got a little annoyed and start messing around. Bear with me. I decided to remove the seat sensor to try and find a break in the connection like you mentioned in the video. I cut the clips that sandwich the sensor together, so that I could spread it apart. I noticed a decent amount of lint / dust in between the contacts and both sides of the membrane, also a small amount of dried soda at the bottom. With the contacts laid flat, I wiped off the membrane and the contacts with paper towels and rubbing alcohol. Didn't have any breaks or other damage to the sensor. After cleaning, I threw it back in the passenger seat and start the car. Light was gone. When I sat down, Passenger airbag "ON" was lit and the #2 Belt buckle light was blinking; the sensor was seeing me and was not throwing any malfunctions. I tried moving around the seat and also using my knee as the pressure point, moving around and I could not recreate the malfunction warning. Could be worth a shot if anyone else comes across this video. Just make sure you flush cut the plastic press clips that secure the sensor from underneath the seat. Once its free from the seat frame, you can then pull the padding away from the sensor and further flush cut the plastic clip from the sensor. If you try to pull the plastic clip with a trim remover etc. you will very likely break some of the contacts in the sensor.

I've never heard of this as a problem. Had my 2010 SS since 2016 and I also spend a ton of time on the Camaro5 forums. The HVAC blend door IS an issue it should have been recalled for. I truly believe every single 5th gen will experience a broken blend door at some time in it's life.

it is common in MOST GM cars of that era I have a 2009 Impala LS that has a faulty blend door actuator and I replaced it 2 times and the 2nd one failed but to be honest I had a DORMAN brand one I will probably pay the extra $$$ and get an OEM one. There's usually some tricks pros use or people that understand how it's put together figure out on their own. We have a 99 300m in the fleet and replacing headlight bulbs is a stupid undertaking if you do it the way the manual tells you to and slightly better if you follow some of the you tube videos of getting to them without taking all kinds of pieces off the front end to get to them. They build cars to be assembled in units on the line, not to be easy to service later. And let's save a dollar per car using the cheapest part that might make warranty.

Love the videos, keep up the great work. It is amazing to me that a car that young with so few miles could have those electrical problems, not to mention the timing chain issues. I drive a Toyota, that's 3 years older, with three times the miles, and have never had any of these type of issues. Car is used for a ride share, literally thousands of people have gotten in and out of the front passenger seat. Never had a failed sensor yet. Seems like GM really has a lot of problems with electrical crap.

@@NOWAdwaltz Yeah I've heard that as well. I watch a lot of South main Auto on KZbin. You can definitely get a feel for brands that have more issues than others. Scotty kilmer also talks about some of this. but I find you need to take some of what he says with a pretty big grain of salt. Really sucks about the Chrysler stuff too because I really like their exterior and internal designs. I still think the Chrysler 300 is a badass looking ride. It's like a gangster mobile lol. But I drive for a living. Sometimes up to a thousand miles per week. No way in hell I would put up with that kind of thing. My 2008 Toyota Prius has 332,000 miles. Still runs great. Obviously it's not without its faults.. all cars have some weaknesses. But to me a vehicle that I can take that kind of abuse on and have it function properly everyday is pretty impressive. I just replaced the original struts, it's still rolling on all the other original suspension parts, Control arm bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints are all still original at 332,000 mi.

I think this was mentioned in another comment on another 5th gen camaro video but the gauges in the console were in the V6 model if you had the 2LT package only real diff between 1LT and 2LT was the center console gauges, leather seats, and I THINK upgraded audio and rear parking sensors. that is why when you order that center console gauge cluster you have to let them know if you have a V6 or a V8 they do have different ones for the 2 V6s (auto and manual) and the 2 for the V8 (auto and manual).

I have this car in LS, down to the color and stripe. One day out with the wife, I made her laugh so hard, she started choking on her soda. Laughing and choking was too much and experiences a bladder overflow leak. Ever since then on seemingly random occasions, the SEATBELT alarm will go off. She's also a bit heavy. I'm willing to bet a tear + permanent liquid permeation is the culprit given this "technology" for the sensor. Thanks for the clue!

Hey JR, these console gauges are included with the 2SS leather interior pack, i think it's the same for the leather seat 2LT package, not just the 2SS. I even think the 1SS car does not have these gauges.

With all the work you put in this Camaro , would it not be cheaper to get a used SS in better shape?

Bah. Only needs to be a recall if NHTSA gets cranky about it.

The dealer charges over $1,000 to fix this, might cost GM $2 😮

WatchJRGo probably a lot more than $2 as they have to pay the dealers tech etc, but your point is correct. I’m a dealer employee for another make and I was being sarcastic. Most OEMs won’t do anything until their hand is forced.

That light goes on and off on my 2003 Silverado 2500 all the time, often when I hit bumps in the road. My CEL comes on and off all the time too. I guess with 309,xxx miles ypu can expect electrical problems.

Nice car but im not sure about the black stripe across the front wing and door, the black on the bonnet(hood) is cool though.

Who hates the Goldwing? Are they stupid? My biggest regret of buying a Goldwing is I waited until I was 50 to buy my first one. It's an amazing motorcycle. I especially like messing with punks on Harleys and kids on crotch rockets. I've got decades and 100's of thousands of miles of experience....lol. My 19 year old son bought one and after an 800 mile Saturday called me up and told me that torturing him with a Goldwing had been cheating. LOL Yup, they'll do twisties all day long...even pulling my camper.

Wow all I can say is another fine job very informative on the video that is for sure, more of that damn technology you know I hate it because I'm an old man not really that old but I hate the technology some of it it seems so bothersome I guess it could save your life. But I kind of doubt it. I just believe that they can build a car with less crap in it that will function and tell you what you need to know about the actual car and not just about stupid stuff like who's sitting in your seat you know who sitting in your seat you're probably looking at them when you're driving down the road talking to or how much they weigh, see it's crap like this that gives everybody a bad day when their light goes on in their dashboard and they want to just smash the dashboard. Now stuff like you put in those gauges in your center console that was so freaking cool now that's technology that you need not that you want it's what you need cuz it tells you about the car anyway my friend another great video as usual keep them coming stay safe stay well and as always God bless.

Is there a colour mismatch between the passenger door and the rear quarter panel? Can't tell if it is light/camera angles, but spotted in few of the videos on this car.

Sounds like how the Cruze should be recalled for the PCV valve in the intake manifold going bad and the turbo compresses the crankcase... no recall... Gotta replace the whole intake manifold and valve cover.

I’m sure there’s probably a reason, but why does the passenger airbag need to be activated by someone being in the seat? Can’t it just always be on?

Why do you want the expense of replacing the dash and air bag if no one is in the seat? I suppose it is a styling trade off.
