It will have a way better and stable method using the X's battery soon, it's just 2mm thicker than the OG battery, so we'll need a custom backplate and that's it

Handheldmods recommends getting the jsaux clear backplate because it doesn’t have any stand offs like the oem cover does. I have the jsaux back plate and I’m waiting on the ally x battery to get here for my og ally upgrade.

This exact thing was already done by CPPC-TEK a few months ago. It's not worth it compromising form factor when you can just carry a powerbank. Good try though. Try upgrading the ram nextime :)

Ally : design flaw include microsd card , troll nvme placement ( it can fit 2280 by cut some of the case or move up a few mm , or simply turn 90 degree ) and it also wasted empty space for battery Ally X : a bug fixed version of ally😂

You messed up there has been a 90w battery mod for the rog ally its a lot better then that you can 3D print a back plate or cut a hole to make room the 90w mod looks a lot better and after you get and it installed it is also a lot lighter

My solution was Xiaomi Powerbank Pro connected by a silicon cable. Easy to replace, you can carry spares :)

In South Africa the Steam Deck Oled 512Gb and ROG Ally X is $1000, Steam deck Oled 1Tb is $1200...So I guess pricing for either here is not a consideration.

It does. That’s what most people actually do instead.

Yes it does. I use 65W powerbanks even in turbo mode when away from outlets. IMHO, this is the better option; you don't need to modify your ally, and as a bonus, you have the option to charge the powerbank and the ally separately.
