At 9:52 we can hear the AUTO-PILOT OFF alarm from the cockpit, meaning the aircraft went on a CAT2 approach, which is normal considering the low visibility :)
@BloodFalcon2k7 Жыл бұрын
Glad someone else caught that!
@karter344 Жыл бұрын
While that’s the procedure for a cat 2, this wasn’t a cat 2 day…the visibility is pretty good; in real cat2 conditions you’d barely be able to see the taxiway next to the runway! Its actually amazing when you step off and can’t see basically anything that the plane landed safely..

I have the privilege of being a frequent flyer on this aircraft, and it's neat to see someone else get the experience. The updates they made certainly modernized the look of the interior. Interestingly enough, they just added options for in-flight entertainment at the end of the season; once you connect to ACWifi you can stream VOD movies and TV shows on a Phone/Tablet/Laptop.

I expect AC uses some of their oldest aircraft on the sports charter operation since those aircraft fly far fewer hours than the regular fleet, often parked for long periods between flights. Helps keep them flying without major maintenance. They don't want the expense of a major overhaul on a 31-year-old aircraft. Delta does the same on their very similar sports charter operation, using some of their oldest 757s.

Truly an amazing adventure!! It was a "TOTAL" revelation of how "the other half travels"!! The people, the lounges, the staff, the food and the wonderful EMIRATES staff who were incredible and understood what "first class" meant and they had it down pat!! I retired 5 years ago and have not flown since!! This video whet my appetite to pursue a new adventure this summer!! I will continue to watch your video's and thanks for your efforts!! Love these flight reviews by Alex, I have watched flight reviews by Dennis Bunnik and Jeb Brooks for years and only recently became aware of this channel. Dennis is an Aussie business man and Jeb an American has his own travel channel, both fly more often as not in business class or even first class, as part of their work. Both are great and seem like nice guys, but Alex's channel is far more relatable and normal as he pays for his own flights and flies cattle class more often as not. :) Carry on the great work Alex. whether flying first class or sardine class. ( which is a step down from cattle class, (economy) and is reserved for flying people on vacation to their destination. which is all I've ever flown from Cardiff or Bristol to various holiday destinations in Europe, Cyprus and Turkey. etc) The planes are chartered or owned by holiday companies like Thomas Cook, TUI, First Choice etc and cram as many people in as they can. :)

Your comment reminded me of Noel Philips videos as he seems to do aviation videos but with a presentation style that looks to me as though it's aimed more towards the kind of people who'd watch videos from MrBeast, Linus Tech Tips, and/or a number of video game KZbinrs, or in other words, he has more of a clickbait presentation style and also allows sponsor integrations in his videos which in turn is something I wouldn't do. Meanwhile, I prefer the presentation style of Simply Aviation, and Alex's presentation style is in between those and Noel, Jeb, Dennis, and Sam, at least as far as I can remember. Edit: Alex's videos may have a bit of clickbait, but it's not as bad as what I've seen with Noel's videos.

About a year ago I got lucky with a substitution of one of these on a YYZ - EWR flight that I was booked into an exit row in coach. I was so confused when I walked on and settled into a seat that had 10+ feet of open space between me and the next row ahead. The pilot was a gray-haired woman with a pony tail, and she came on and said we may have noticed the plane was "tricked out". Such a fun experience.

How long were these planes flying for Jetz? I mean new interior for a 31 year old plane must mean the flightcycles must be low. So they will be the oldest A320 flying soon.
@MrEeeaddict Жыл бұрын
Might not even be low cycles, delta did the same thing with their oldest 757's. Didn't upgrade to etops etc, this way they minimize cycles and don't "waste" a younger plnae

I bet these jets fly even less often than cargo aircraft. They will often be sitting at the airport for a couple days while hockey teams play and so on. It's a good use of a less fuel efficient aircraft, just like cargo is. I don't believe Air Canada has ever bought new jets for Jetz, though they did use newer jets in the past.

Awesome video Alex, I worked the departure of that A320 that evening when it took the Ottawa Senators out to Columbus post game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. We had that bird plus a Jetz A319 for the Maple Leafs on our ramp @ Skyservice with the 2 departures within 5 minutes of each other. I'm told that there is supposed to be a special "Jetz" paint scheme and I'm hoping that they return to the original lower case font of "jetz" as the one that went on after the year and a half hiatus from operations in the block lettering looks pretty sad to me. Also the A320's that are coming back into the Jetz fleet are having the baggage hold floors replaced to a standard bulk loading style floor as the previous "can" rolling floors were proving to be to much hassle for the sports charter/Jetz style of operations.

Just a de-rated takeoff. 35R is the longest runway in Canada if I’m not mistaken. It’s not a long flight with 12 pax no need to make the engines work. The pilots would have used the lowest setting to get airborne and leave enough runway to stop prior to V1.
@2flyabove Жыл бұрын
The airport is also 3,556 feet above sea level... so with a de-rated thrust, plus thinner air, it'll be a longer take-off roll.
