China Eastern is not a member of Star Alliance but of Skyteam. Thanks for the review, though! The reason for why these flights are so much cheaper than Thai Airways is simple: competition! With direct flights Thai Airways already is offereing a great advantage, which is why they can sell these tickets for a comparably high price. China Eastern to the contrary needs to make sure it has its flights to and from their hub in Shanghai full, so they offer cheap flights to Europe with the disadvantage of a connecting flight. The advantage and competing argument comes with the price.

China Eastern Airlines is NOT a Star Alliance partner airlines correction to what you mentioned on a video. FYI, Air China is indeed a Star Alliance member alliance their hub is in Beijing Capital, do not mistake with China Airlines which is a Tawainese airlines their hib is in Taipei.

Nice review. I would like to ask, does the flight crew not mind you filming inside the aircraft cabin? I will be flying with them next week between Bangkok and Kunming for my Songkran holiday.

I tried not to film them but they didn't mind at all. Most of them smiled at the camera 🙂

Did you need any kind of visa to make the stopover in China? Was the immigration process mandatory even if it was just transit?

I did not need a visa, didn't have to go through immigration either, just had to walk a lot, the gate was really far 😁 And I had to do another security check

How long was the gate walk? I have a connecting flight (1 hr 30 layover Shang hai) I’m concerned I won’t make it! Its encouraging to see reviews like this about CA, but I have seen many stories about the layover which are making me concerned about my decision.

@@kammsven hi great video , when you transferred to the Frankfurt flight , how tight time wise was your connection ? And did you have a checked in bag ? that was transferred to Frankfurt . Did you have to pay extra for checked in bag ? thanks

I don't know what's wrong with the colors of the cabin to deserve a comment like that. These are new and the beige color looks great. The older flaming blue is much worse. This similar color used by other airlines, so I don't know why it deserves criticism.

I give it 8/10 because the trip is so long, direct flight is more convenient. Dropped my luggage in Bangkok, they checked it through to Frankfurt.
