There's always a reason people are selling the car bro. It's ironic, I just looked at a type s. Ran and drove great, AC worked, everything was good. I was told no grinds, no leaks. I hopped under the car after test drive and it was dripping oil from the rear main seal. Had to pass on it. Good luck with yours man!

Yep I’m a mechanic and I bought a 1998 Lexus GS300 for $1500 from old man one owner test drive it drove perfect no leaks nothing well after buying it ABS issue brake booster and module needs replacing, it needed plugs, valve cover gaskets, timing belt, cam seals, front main seal, water pump, bc it was losing 3 quarts in 759 miles I’m $6000 deep in repairs and diag right now an Toyota dealer, 2 shops, and a Lexus specialist couldn’t even figure out the ABS Issue yet I thought it was just me at first… I did brakes and lost the work myself but the guy knew about the abs problem and the oil leaked bc he had a shop clean all the oil off the vehicle before I bought it but I trusted the old guy bc he was a family friend and when he pulled out a buys as is paper for me to sign on camera I should have backed out…

I was told everything ran fine minus the AC…failed to mention I’m missing whole ass sensors, coolant lines rotted out, motor mounts all shot, slave or master cylinder, not sure just yet lol. Of course it wasn't what it was supposed to be there was some small cosmetic issues (I am OCD) but the car was solid and got me and my 12 year old son home with zero issues. I just picked up an 8th gen accord no body damage needs a paint job, runs strong and shifts smooth. Ice cold a/c before the car even warms up. No leaks no rust. Interior is in great condition and I only paid $850 ya boy got the deal it's registered and insured now and been running great oil change new filters plugs and coils runs like a champ only 142k miles! Here in Florida as well

I’m literally in the same situation with my Honda. I got it it like ran perfect for the first week and then it wouldn’t start and I got a ticket for street sweeper because I couldn’t move it and I had to go to work smh he said it’s the main relay I replaced. The main relay still would not start. Turns out on the ECU written in marker says bad ECU gets stuck sometimes so I’m buying a SC 300 P 28. For 900$ more 😭
