You could have a story about moonshine, meth, and or incest, coupled with murder and you'd have a realistic story!😂

Hiking the Appalachian Trail can get scary or concerning enough as it is without silly ghost stories, with changes in weather, weird sudden health issues, underestimating how much food and water you need to for certain sections, and creepers from the towns along the trail bringing their BS.

Nice story. Too bad the AT is 99.9 per cent green tunnel with endless PUDs. When you hike the AT, all you see is dense undergrowth and trees. There are virtually no scenic overlooks. You almost never see the mountains, the ridges, the valleys. You see nothing but trees that bock the view. It's a disappointing experience. Better to hike it in the winter after the leaves have fallen.

Maybe drop the books and pictures? Maybe it doesn't want its secrets out because everyone who writes about it died.
