I always thought that, while Karen may be a complete airhead, she is probably a great friend. She’s always happy, goes with the flow, and was the least drama-prone of all the Plastics. Sure, she got pulled into drama but even when asked if she’d want to know if someone said something bad about her, her first response was “No.”
@MiciousDawn
@MiciousDawn 9 ай бұрын
I might have thought the same when I was younger when the movie first came out, but now that I'm older (39) I learned that she actually isn't a good friend either. She is an integral piece to the creation of a toxic group; the apathetic leaf in the wind who lets the bullies run her life. Karen doesn't form her own opinion, doesn't use her voice, doesn't stand up for her friends, and doesn't have an apparent compass of what is right or wrong (hooking up with her cousin??) and you don't want a friend like that. It would have been nice if there was more fleshed out development of both Karen and Gretchen.

@haeataanaru8462Exactly, while being a bystander doesn’t make you as MUCH of a witch as the ones doing the majority of bullying themselves, it makes you part of the problem and largely at fault in many ways. The movie’s message was to show how everyone in some sense can be a “mean girl.” Karen’s vibes were very much remind me of the quote “All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Silence and absent-mindedness alone can do enough damage.
@golden_tears_
@golden_tears_ 9 ай бұрын
@@johnisuncomfortable4279 she’s not pure positivity, she makes fun of everyone in the burn book and the people Regenia bullies. Just because she isn’t the worst one out of the group, doesn’t mean she isn’t an asshole. She doesn’t defend anybody, including Regina and Gretchen who have been her “friends” for years. She may be the most “redeemable” out of the three, but that doesn’t mean you should want her as a friend 😭

She laughs when Regina pulls the planned parenthood act to hurt another girl. She finds it funny. How is she is nice person ??? She doesn’t care at all about what is happening to anyone. She writes horrible things about people in that book. She is also an enabler . Wants to sleep with her cousin. She is equally horrible.

hahahh I'd heard it was legit good for years and finally got around to seeing this cause we'd picked up this card/roleplaying game but one of the scenarios was more or less as a bunch of stuck up high school girls. So I watched it for inspiration/research, absolutely loved it, completely wrecked everyone with my snarky comments about what they were wearing in the game

Kind of weird fun fact: For Black friday 2023, Walmart made some Mean girl styled shorts with the og cast and same universe in the future where Cady is the new principal, it's actually pretty cool

The new Mean Girls is very obviously not good. Nothing can b3 as iconic as the first one. I do recommend Legally Blonde and Clueless. I’m 44 and I really enjoy watching younger ppl see movies I’ve loved for years for the first time. I just recently rewatched Romeo &Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes. It’s such a cool movie. I think you’d both like it

The type of movie where it was written by a women, that showed that girl power can exist while still staying reality based, where women aren’t automatically special, but grew and developed their characters to do so. Nowadays the woke movement, quite different that’s why every leading woman movie has been failing. They forget women have flaws too. That they are ‘oppressed’ and victims but somehow still perfect so everyone should love them.

This ALL would have never happened had Regina not mistaken Janis Ian being Lebanese with the word lesbian.

So the reason she's wearing a really baggy shirt near the beginning of the movie is that Regina told her to wear pink on wednesday and she didn't have anything pink in her regular wardrobe, so she wore what she could find even if it didnt fit well.

I don’t get exposed to ads really at all so I had no idea they rebeooted it until you guys said something about it. I just watched the trailer and it seems really unnecessary given how iconic this movie is. I agree with Vince that I don’t think it’ll have the sauce that this movie did especially given how much we pull punches this day and age.

Also the new Mean Girls is actually a movie of the 2018 MUSICAL version that was on Broadway. There actually was a Mean Girls 2, but it wasn't the same cast other than the teachers and it was just bad.

Some people totaly miss the premise of the movie, always saying stuff like "Well Karen was super nice" or "Janis was the real mean girl". No okay no, let me tell u. Everyone is a mean girl, thats legit the point of the movie, its not that only the plastics r the mean girls. Its every girl in this movie. Its not called "mean girl" its "mean GIRLSSSS". Theres no good guy its just that everyone s mean at some point or all the time

As a guy, I do not understand Aaron. After all that, he just ends up with a girl who framed their teacher for selling drugs and ruined an ex... I would have just moved on and found me a quieter girl. Also, Karen is the best, perhaps the only one who was not a completely bad person.
